Best place for cookies and coffee in east chinatown, hands down! Yuka and Martin are so, so lovely and it's always such a joy to walk into their cafe. Make this spot a part of your east chinatown stroll!

The cutest little cafe! With the best coffee and matcha. And their baked goods are amazing. Small seating area. Very cozy. And quality of their coffees is unmatched. The owners are the sweetest people too. Good vibes all around.

You can tell this little cafe is a community favourite. It’s easier to explain this concept once you see if the type of people that this bakery and coffee shop attracts. You know a place is good when their regulars are of the older demographic and the owners remember their name and order. Yes, the place has really good cookies and chocolates and creative drinks and authentic Matcha, but its charm comes from who’s working behind the counter. The same two people I see every time I come in who are working their best to move the line as effectively as possible. I like this cafe so much that I jumped out of a passing street car to grab a matcha. I wouldn’t do that just for any place. Issho is the perfect example of what Toronto needs (except for the fact that I wish there was more seating/room).

Awesome coffee shop on Gerrard with a small but solid selection of pastries and seasonal treats.

Had the flat white with oat milk here - probably the best flat white I’ve had in downtown TO. The store has a selection of beans for sale as well.

They have a small but solid collection of pastries made in-house. I’ve tried the seasonal kabocha pie and the houjicha cannele. I really enjoyed the kabocha pie!

The owners/barista is very nice and will take time to tell you about the different flavor profiles.

The place can get pretty busy on the weekends, and because it is a smaller space, so you may have to wait a bit in line. For people who come by car, there is paid parking on Gerrard across the street.

Let's go to Issho together, to try all their baked goods! No matter sweet or savory, one bite will immediately make you want more. The kimchi cheese scone is the asian-twist of the typical cheddar scone that I love, while the matcha cookie makes me actually like milk chocolate. The tonka canele is expertly baked for a crackly crisp exterior that's deeply caramelized, yet maintains a gooey vanilla-y custard interior.

Unmistakably wrapped in their signature blue and white packaging, Rise Krispies were an indulgent treat from my childhood that stretches to now as well. However, as my palate has been refined, I've sought a little something extra. This take elevates on the texture with a crispier/crunchier bite from the Chex mix that still dissolves on your tongue from the gooey, butter marshmallow complex interconnecting the cereal, along with a subtle savoriness from the peanut butter that cuts through the rich caramel. I find it harder to imagine a better-crafted canelé than this. A beautifully browned outer layer cracks and crisps to reveal a gooey, custard-like interior that plays a delicate balance of an eggy sweetness and a subtle bitterness from the aromatic Hojicha powder dusting on top.

The cutest family owned coffee shop in the east end! Staff are so friendly and the coffee is great - I usually get a classic drip. Good chocolate chip cookie too!
