I've been a loyal patron of this restaurant for quite some time, primarily because of their unagi bento, which has always been a highlight for me. Unfortunately, my most recent experience left me quite disappointed. The portion size of the unagi significantly decreased. For the price of $28, the quantity of unagi served was unexpectedly small, without any prior notice or explanation from the restaurant. Not coming back.

It’s a must go if you are in Toronto or near the Chefs Hall, located in a quiet and cosy corner, Iwami gave us a fantastic lunch experience. Everything is so fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Tommy the Chef is so passionate about cooking and serving the clients, his creativity and talent are well demonstrated in the selection of ingredients and different layers of flavor. Highly recommended for casual lunch or dinner. Will go back for sure next time when I am in Toronto.

This is more like a sushi bar. It's in the Assembly Chef's Hall. The food is truly excellent and unrivaled at this price. I'll gladly accept the lack of restaurant frills for this level of quality.

Was a bit skeptical first but found this hidden jam definitely worth to try. Fresh ingredients, the flavor is on spot and with rich layers, presentation like fine dining. Talked to the owner a bit and he is so pationate about food, which is a good sign. We tried 5 dishes plus wine and they are all delicious. My personal favorite is Kampachi Crudo which is very refreshing!

Stopped by for a quick lunch. It’s in the food hall with the tea bar to the right.The server was friendly, smiling and knowledgeable. I ordered the miso butter corn and butterfish roll.The miso butter corn was tasty and the chips were the best part.I wish there was a thicker slice of fish on the roll, but the flavors were great and the crunch of the black sesame seeds added a great note.I would have rather sat at the bar but for whatever reason everyone was seated at the two larger tables together. Not great for date night, but it worked for a solo lunch.

Not only was the server incredible. But the chef/owner was also amazing. The service was out of this world, the food matched it. Best sashimi I've ever had. My 5 year old son also loves sashimi and they paid extra special attention to him. Truly fantastic. Every step of the way this place went above & beyond. I've never been so enthusiastic to leave a review. We rushed back to our hotel just so we could spread the good news of this place. Highly recommend, 11 out of 10 (yes, although mathematically impossible, but completely relevant here). I can't wait to come back. If you are in or near Toronto & need authentic good quality sushi & you want to support someone who cares about their craft, please come to this place. We are visiting from out of country, & I take great pleasure of sharing my experience of this place. Thank you for this memory. Words do no just ?? there's no way this place doesn't succeed. Someone who cares this much about what they do, & serves such a quality product is bound to succeed. I will be coming back, FOR SURE

I chose Iwami after browsing all of the other restaurants/stalls in Chef's Hall and mistakenly only read the menu posted on the wall and not the full menu placed on the table(s). I went with the cucumber maki and avocado maki and both were great. The ingredients are fresh, and I went with veggies only because I was hungry but didn't want to feel too full or weighed down. It only took about 5-6 minutes after placing my order to get my rolls (I visited on a Saturday afternoon during Christmas season). I sat at the bar area. I wish I had noticed the full menu, because I probably would have tried one of the large or small plates in lieu of sushi. That being said, I'm not disappointed in my food at all and would return to try more. The service was very friendly and welcoming, too.
