The food was good but the service was better. The ambience feels like a warm cozy upscale diner.
All parts of the meal were absolutely delightful! Service was outstanding! Ambiance was very cozy and welcoming.
I wish I had discovered this place sooner. I'll comeback often. Experience was smooth, gentle and soigné. Both Food and service - top notch
Devin was our server this evening and they were fantastic!! Absolutely loved our evening. Thank you for a 5 star dinner and service
What a pleasant surprise!! A great value for a delicious steak dinner!! We will definitely add this to our list of places to go to when you are that area. Thank you !!
Honest and freshly made steak and fries. Not big portions which is great. Don't want to takeaway the leftovers after a good meal.
The servers are friendly and attentive, somehow feels fake though. They're rushing for you to order, eat and leave. I don't like that, it's not an enjoyable and welcoming dining experience. We've been in the restaurant for less than 90 minutes and the minute we were done with our dessert, they brought the bill, without us even asking for it. It's their polite way of kicking us out. If I just wanted to eat and leave, I would've ordered take out or went to a grab and go restaurant. Restaurants are meant to be enjoyed, that wasn't the experience. I wouldn't come back for that reason. The steak and frites were great!
Disappointed that staff allowed 2 young ladies sitting beside us to continue to allow them to flash their camera lights and addition hand held lights towards our table which got directed to my eyes as they where filming their food even after I asked the staff to advise the ladies their lights where bothering me “Influencers for social media “ They had no concerns that they where bothering us
As the only item on the menu the steak was not a standout. The tiny warming candle that they rest the steak platter on does very little to keep the meat warm and just chars the one piece of meat directly under the candle haha. The fries were very good though. Service was friendly but our table did feel that the 1.5 hour seating limit left us feeling quite rushed. For a nice outing with friends there are nicer more relaxed places to go.
My second time going and honestly, it's the best steak I've had. We went there for my husband's birthday and I requested a candle on the steak through OpenTable app when I booked my reservations. They came through and it was super cute.

Like always, perfect! Impeccable service, atmosphere and food! Today, I didn't book a reservation; however, the owner nicely accommodated us, and once again, they nailed it! My favourite steak house in town. I recommend it, and I will definitely be back!

Had the steak course at J’s Steak Frites and it was absolutely amazing! 🥩
The steak was cooked perfectly — juicy and tender — but the sauce was the real highlight, rich and full of flavor.
They even offered unlimited fries, which were super crispy and addictive 🍟
The blueberry cake for dessert was soft, fresh, and such a satisfying finish 🍰
Even the salad greens were fresh and vibrant.
Overall, everything from start to finish was perfect — definitely one of my top steak spots in Toronto!

Some restaurants feed your appetite — J’s Steak Frites feeds your fantasy. From the moment you step inside, there is an unmistakable Parisian spell to the room: low lighting, polished warmth, and that effortless je ne sais quoi that only a true French bistro can create. ✨🇫🇷
This is the kind of place where time slows, conversation softens, and dinner begins to feel like romance by design. A preset menu keeps things delightfully classic: a light salad to awaken the palate, followed by the star attraction, steak & frites, and a dessert worthy of the finale.
The Candied Walnut Salad was elegant and restrained: lightly dressed with just enough sweetness and crunch to hint at the richness to come. Then arrived the NY Strip Loin: tender, beautifully pink, and generously portioned, its depth heightened by the house tarragon butter sauce, a velvety pour of indulgence that draped every bite in herbaceous luxury.
The frites were the definition of Parisian perfection, whisper-thin, impeccably crisp, salted just so; the kind you keep reaching for long after you’ve said “one more.”
And dessert felt like a love letter from the pâtisserie: the Mille Feuille, impossibly delicate layers of flaky pastry with Madagascan vanilla bean cream and a whisper of raspberry; elegant, airy, and quietly unforgettable.
Dining at J’s Steak Frites doesn’t just resemble Europe. It transports you there. Intimate, polished, and beautifully crafted, it’s the kind of restaurant that turns an ordinary evening into a little moment of escape. 🌙🥂
