Placed an order for pickup at 12:00 noon a day before, did not receive until 12:22. Not a single apology from staff. Simply says “the ipad broke down”.

Food is amazing, fish is some of the better I've had, but its a one shot thing.
The Japandi design/layout is very welcoming but not well lit at all so it feels dark inside.
However, I found the service mediocre at best with a group. Not to mention the failing of telling anyone that there was a 20% gratuity automatically tagged on...eesh. Never taking a group here again for either business or personal. No offense guys, but you really dropped the ball on that and it didnt sit right at all.

The food here will make you realize that the guy that cut you off on the road or your bully from childhood are just people who never tried JaBistro

Cute spot but empty on a Monday night. The pressed sushi wasn’t very authentic but was tasty, the lobster miso is basically miso soup cooked in lobster head (only one tiny piece of meat in soup).
The miso black cod was very… interesting… had a cream sauce that tasted like chowder with kind of overcooked cod
Drinks were good

We ordered takeout from this restaurant after reading the numerous 5 star reviews, so expectations were high. Upon arriving, we were already disheartened by the empty dining room and chefs with nothing to do.
Our order, which came up to well over $200, came with 2 minute portions of soy sauce and an even smaller portion of wasabi. You'd think customers paying nearly $300 might be offered a little more, it's not like these things are costly.
The 'lobster' miso soup came with a single small chunk of lobster, and little more than a fishy, otherwise empty broth. The sushi consisted of mushy, overcooked rice without exception for each item in our order. The fish was mostly fresh, apart from one of our selections that was so fishy none of us could eat it. The sashimi was fresh, though room temperature. The items we enjoyed were the wagyu and the salmon with jalapeno.
My disappointment is only compounded by the unjustifiably exorbitant price. Times are tough, if you're going to charge at such a level, you have a high standard to live up to, and regrettably, such is not the case at this establishment.

Sometimes, the best cooking is done in the simplest way. Maybe we don’t like modern Japanese food. I didn’t like the experience at all. It was overpriced and had zero taste.

JaBistro was the first ever set menu I got at a restaurant after I graduated university with my own money. I remember, at the time, the miso marinated black cod was the best dish I had ever eaten in my entire life.
That was 8 years ago. Coming back now, after having eaten a ton of amazing food, that cod still lives up to my memory of it and ranks among some of the best food I've ever had.

I usually don’t even eat or like Sushi but JaBistro has the best Sushi downtown Toronto. Drinks & service is great too. Riku is a great manager.
BONUS! They have a great hidden gem patio.

JaBistro delivers an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The service is warm, attentive, and perfectly paced, making you feel truly taken care of. The sushi is fresh, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavor, easily some of the best in the city. But what really elevates the evening is the ambiance: a sleek, modern space with a calm, intimate atmosphere that sets the perfect tone for enjoying every bite.

A fantastic experience dining here, both food and service were perfect and professional. This is the high end outpost of the kinka / kinton ramen group of restaurants, and it seems the freshest fish can be found here downtown on Richmond St. We had the best hamachi and sushi nigiri we have ever had in the GTA as well as the best hamachi kama (collar). Fresh fish specials were incredible. Also outstanding, the tempura chicken nanban (fried with tartar sauce that is) and the miso cod with creamy oyster sauce. Even the dessert was amazing!
Had the pleasure of trying JaBistro last night.
First off the food was phenomenal. The beef carpaccio is a must try - whatever dressing they put on the arugula is addicting. I had the Aburi sampler platter and my friend tried a bunch of the sashimi. Everything was very fresh and the aburi combinations and the JaBistro roll were absolutely delicious.
Only thing keeping them from 5 stars is my friend’s entree was served first and I waited about 15-20 minutes for mine to make it out of the kitchen. Timing could have definitely been better though they very kindly took a percentage off the bill which was a really nice gesture.
I would definitely go back and it looked like they were super busy with uber eats orders as well if you can’t make it in the restaurant.

Cute place. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable! The backs are so short that they dig into your back. The services was great but the food was just ok. Miso fish wasn't good at all. My miso is so much better. The sushi was good not great. We wouldn't return there!
Came here for Summerlicious and absolutely loved the special menu — got to try pretty much everything I was craving. Realized it’s been ten years since my last visit, but the food is still just as amazing as I remembered. Loved it!
