The main dish was excellent, both types of steaks were excellent. The side dishes were a disappointment.
Incredible experience. The steak was beautiful. I loved the sauces and seasonings and the service was A1. Next time I am in Toronto, must visit again
We came to Jacobs our first night in Toronto after being highly recommended online. We made a reservation and everything went smoothly after being greeted by the host. I would say the service was great. We ordered the Beef Tartare, Jumbo Shrimp cocktail, Caeasar Salad, and two loin strip steak. The beef tartare was delicious. The Caesar salad was just borderline underwhelming. We could tell the presentation of the Caeasar give it the appearance of a made from scratch salad. However, the dressing was premade and essentially they just assemble the salad in front of you as a show. The Jumbo shrimp were huge however not juicy and borderline dry. The loin steaks were of a good cut/quality. The steaks however had a very dry crust. I suspect they had finished the steaks a while back and had let it sit to rest too long. As a result the steaks had cool down too much and dried over. I would say it was the most disappointing steak dinner I've had in a long long time. It seems I wasn't the only one who felt that way because the table to the right and left of us also state their dinners (particularly the steaks) were just not good. I would not recommend Jacob's steakhouse at any price point.
First time. Food was good, not great. Prices are steep. Service was good. But water glasses smelled like wet dog. I think they used an old wet cloth to polish. Bad smell. They comped the sparkling water to compensate. Good food, good service, very high prices for what you get.
I had heard a great deal about Jacob's, so when the opportunity arose to dine there with friends, I was eager to experience it for myself. Unfortunately, the meal was rather unremarkable, leaving me questioning the widespread acclaim. Given the pricing, one would expect an exceptional dining experience. While the service was adequate and the food competently prepared, nothing truly stood out. The tartare was overly pickled and somewhat off-putting, while the oysters, though enjoyable, failed to justify the $70 price tag for the two appetizers. For my main course, I opted for the 32 oz bone-in ribeye and a few other sides. While the crust and preparation were well-executed, the overall flavor did not leave a lasting impression. In summary, while the food and service were acceptable, the experience did not justify the premium pricing.
Joshua was such an amazing server! He really made us feel comfortable and welcomed at Jacobs & Co. The other staff members were very attentive and kind as well!
Great food and atmosphere. Steak was pretty good, aged very well, tender and rich in taste. Few varieties of salt was offered on side went really well with the steak. Seabass was pretty good as well especially with the sauce came along with. Mushroom was okay, a bit overcooked and dry. Mediterranean salad was least of my favorites. They did emphasize that they offered salad very fresh but taste wise it was a bit disappointing. Last is, red wine in glass they only have four types, would be better if there is more variety.
We had a joint wedding anniversary/birthday celebration so wanted something special and Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse didn't disappoint! From the moment we walked in until we left, the service was top notch, including one of the owners coming out to thank us for dining there. Special shout-out to our server, Katrina, who explained the menu really well and made some excellent recommendations. The food was amazing (Salmon Tartare, West Coast Oysters and the Chef's Tasting - California Cut Striploins all especially good) and the ambience was very relaxed. This place had been on our list for a year and we're definitely going back.

Overall, the food was extremely tasty.
The only drawbacks were around the dated decor, which is visibly falling apart in many areas.
In addition, the somoleir wasn't overly helpful. We had to really tease out some suggestions, which should have come naturally to us after discussing our dinner selections and wines we typically drink at home.

Definitely a splurge, but you deserve to treat yourself here! Textbooks steaks, these guys know what they’re doing and the quality of the meat is top notch. Service was impeccable as well. Had goosebumps with my first few bites. Our server also recommended some great wine that paired beautifully with our dishes. Sell an organ and come here to feast, it’ll be worth it.
