There was live music when we were here, which was really enjoyable. You can tell they put a lot of effort into getting the highest quality Canadian sourced ingredients. Food was really good.

Joni Restaurant is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Yorkville. The ambiance is refined yet welcoming—sophisticated décor, soft lighting, and elegant touches that create the perfect atmosphere for a memorable evening.
The food is nothing short of exquisite. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and presented like a work of art. The flavors are rich and layered, with just the right balance of creativity and comfort. Every bite felt intentional and elevated.
The service was exceptional—attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. You can tell the staff takes pride in creating a flawless dining experience.
We are celebrating a very special occasions here, and everything—from the setting to the dessert—felt curated with love and elegance.
Thank you, Joni, for making our evening truly unforgettable. We'll definitely be back!

1000/10 cannot recommend more. Not the prettiest of spots- kind of feels like you’re in a hotel lobby but this might’ve been the best french toast I’ve ever had. My friend got the breakfast sandwich which was absolutely delectable! Definitely will be back.

Joni would have got a higher rating except the host was rude and
adversely affected our experience. We were two older women together, hoping for a celebratory brunch. Instead, despite the restaurant being empty, we were seated by the kitchen. When we asked to be moved, he pointed to the option of a far corner with a sneer on his face. We have been recommended by a friend to come here. The server was delightful but did not take away a horrible taste in our mouths. We won't be back and we will be telling our experience to our friends who referred us who up to now have been regular diners. I have never been so disrespected.

Very mid, especially for the price
Steak: can taste the aged funk, but still tough somehow
One waitress in the reception is really rude. Her behaviour made me feel so uncomfortable. Maybe I’m Chinese, she seems like have some racism on me.

It's a very elegant place with outstanding service (really, I wouldn't say it without a solid reason).
Milk Buns and butter
To start, we were served with got milk buns with salted tomato butter as an amuse-bouche. The freshly baked milk buns were similar to brioche, but a bit lighter on texture, and the tomato butter was a first sign of the Joni’ chef’s creative approach.
Beef Tartare
I was a bit surprised to get beef tartare on a waffle, but the result was spectacular.
Hand-chopped beef with smooth egg yolk sauce has a pleasantly fresh taste due to the unique elderberry capers (it’s possible to pickle buds or berries from other plants, not just the commonly used Mediterranean variety).
The mildly sweet, yet overall pretty light einkorn waffle made beef tartare experience unforgettable.
My sincere compliments to the chef for such an amazing creation!
Halibut
This was the most delicious halibut dish I ever ate. Fantastically tender with some salty notes from the roe and delightful textural contrast from finderling potatoes (usually I don't eat potato, but this dish was a rare exception!)
Steak Frites
The striploin was cooked to the perfect medium-rare condition, but wasn't tender as I hoped.
Although, horseradish cream improved the taste, but it was a bit of a disappointment in comparison to the other culinary masterpieces on the menu.
Peach Torta
French-style peach tart - not too sweet, not too crispy, but rather nicely soft and smooth in texture, reminiscent of muffin dough, - elevated by airy crème fraiche and refreshed with mint leaves. It was a delicate fusion of American/Canadian and French bakery traditions.
Sea Buckthorn Crème
It was a version of Pavlova – a toasted meringue dessert - with white chocolate, a bit of raspberry and some Sea Buckthorn sauce which added great summer-freshing sourness.
The fantastic contrast of textures and a delightful play of different “shades” of sweetness.
Overall, it was a fabulous experience. The restaurant is highly recommended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Joni made my 25th birthday unforgettable!
I came to Joni last night for my 25th birthday dinner and it was genuinely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Toronto. The vibe was warm and elegant, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the space itself is absolutely stunning.
We ordered the harvest chicken and the short rib, both of which were delicious — cooked beautifully and packed with flavour. The mashed potatoes were next level, and the house bread with sundried tomato butter? Probably the best butter I’ve had at a restaurant, hands down.
With two cocktails, the bill came to about $200 before tax, which felt fair for the quality and overall experience. There was a small hiccup during dinner — a bit of sesame seed cross-contamination (I have an allergy) — but the staff handled it quickly and kindly, and brought me a fresh dish with no issue at all.
After dinner, we headed upstairs to Writers Room for drinks, but unfortunately, we left behind our leftover food — including an almost full serving of those mashed potatoes and the incredible bread and butter. We were devastated when we realized too late that the restaurant had closed for the night. Total heartbreak!
Overall, though, Joni exceeded expectations and gave me a birthday dinner to remember. I’d love to come back — especially to make up for the lost leftovers! 🥲

I recently visited this place with my friends, and we had an incredible time! The service was top-notch, and we really felt taken care of throughout our meal. I also appreciated the variety of options available, especially the delicious vegetarian dishes and the best espresso that everyone enjoyed. It’s a perfect spot for a fun outing with friends. I highly recommend it!
