Very disappointing experience for a $100+ per person “high-end” restaurant.
We came specifically for the risotto and were told there is a new policy (introduced in September) that only tables of more than four can order it. We even found another table of two willing to share so the four-person requirement would be met — the restaurant still refused. Zero flexibility.
More concerning was the service. We ordered a whole fish, and it was simply placed on the table with no offer to debone it. In a restaurant at this price point, proper tableside deboning should be standard. We had to explicitly ask. That level of inattentiveness is unacceptable for fine dining.
When we raised our concerns, the manager said they are “educating customers” about the new policy and that “most people already know.” That response felt dismissive rather than apologetic.
Rigid policies are one thing. Lack of hospitality is another. We left very disappointed.

Came for Valentine’s Day and while the service is excellent the food is incredibly average. Fresh but uninteresting and basic for the price. The flavours do not justify the reputation or price in our opinion.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for over a decade and finally made it out to Joso’s for dinner. We had a wonderful dinner! The mussels/clam/shrimp were outstanding and the sea bream was fresh and perfectly cooked. Loved the cozy and quirky vibe. The artwork and classic photos were absolutely charming! The service was excellent and highly attentive. We had an amazing experience and will return.

Unreal experience at Joso’s. Paul is a legend in Yorkville and an amazing friend to everyone in the neighborhood. Impeccable seafood, excellent service, and a beautiful, classic atmosphere. First visit for me to Joso's. Celebrating a birthday with someone special. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and service was excellent. To top it all off the food fresh and cooked perfectly and this all contributed to an exceptional experience!
