Celebrated our five-year anniversary at J's Steak Frites - they're Queen location, which officially closed Saturday, July 12th. We had a reservation on Friday, not knowing it was the day before they were permanently closing. The steak itself was great and cooked well, with wonderful crispy unlimited fries. My main concern was the service - no one explained the menu, what is included, or what to expect. We sat down and were promptly given a salad and bread. I understood how the restaurant worked from reviews and research, so no element of the meal was a surprise - just a severe disappointment. Charging 180 for two steaks, fries and salad - with NO mention of the fixed menu, the time constraint, what to expect, what kind of steak, is ridiculous. Open Table and J's should have flagged that this location was closing. Being told we would be charged $40 for not showing up to our reservation at a restaurant going out of business is robbery. Save your money and go to a proper steak house, with proper service, which will offer you a better experience. J's charges too much for no WOW factor - looking to take advantage of misleading advertisements and hoping virality will work... until their second location is bound to close as well. My sympathy lies with the staff who are no longer employed.

My husband and I have always enjoyed J's Steak Frites. There is something truly special about a perfectly prepared steak and the most delicious, unlimited pommes frites this side of the Atlantic. The ambiance at J's, has always been warm and quaint. Celeste is impeccable; a seasoned professional with her eye on providing excellent customer service. The warmth she exudes when welcoming you, is genuine and kind. The attentive service and hospitality is always appreciated and does not go unnoticed. As always, thank you for granting our request for our special table, number 3.

Best steak I've had in a long time. Also recommend their desserts which are made in-house. A fabulous dining experience!

Restaurant was a little chilly (i think i was sitting right under the vent though), was worried steak would get cold quickly, they serve with little candle light to have silver plate stay warmed (wasnt really keeping the temperature of the steak tho). Steak was cooked perfectly, was little dry for me and little too much of smoky/burnt taste. Fries were very nicely cooked, sauce with steak was absolutely amazing and greatly paired with steak. I was sitting right next to the speaker; staff kindly asked if background noise were too loud. I think overall its good for value, would probably come back.

Service was impeccable. Food was great, and the all-you-can-drink wine for $45.00 was superb. Highly recommended place for dining. Front of house was so accommodating when our reservation through opentable did not save on their system. They happily made room for us.

Had a great meal at J’s Steak Frites]! The steak was cooked just right and tasted amazing. Plus, they have unlimited fries, which were really good. Definitely save room for the Biscoff cake – it was so delicious. Solid spot for a good steak and fries with a sweet treat at the end. I'd go back.

The wife treated me to a birthday dinner here tonight. It was amazing! Best steak I’ve had in years. Fries on point (better than McDicks), and the only thing better than that was the service.

Thank you, I will be back

When you have one entree, you've got to absolutely nail it, and this was some of the laziest steak prep we've had in our lives. They promote the char on their steaks, and ours were limp and far too chewy. Salad wasn't spectacular but did the trick, the fries and tarragon sauce were the only redeeming aspects of the meal. The dessert was just above average. Lovely service though, but a shocker of a meal overall.

This was our first time trying this place and it was amazing! The salad was really good and the walnuts were a great addition to the dish. The bread was hard and crunchy but it was very tasty with the butter. We got our steaks done medium rare and it was the best steak we’ve ever had. The fries are also super crispy and tasted like elevated McDonalds fries lol. The espresso cake was delicious and the raspberry dessert was also really well made. The service was great and all the staff are super friendly and nice. One of the servers kept coincidentally asking if the food was good the moment I took a bite and started eating which was very silly. The atmosphere is so nice and the interior decorating is super cute. The entire restaurant feels very vintage with the old architecture and interior design. All of the songs that played at the restaurant were bangers and whoever was in charge of the music did a good job. Overall I would recommend this restaurant and I’d definitely come back again!
