Had a very chill lunch here. The ramen broth was delicious with just the right amount of protein. Good bang for your buck imo. Would love to revisit for dinner and try their drinks.

I love the frothy Paitan Soy. With the sous vide chashu and chicken and the seasoned egg, it's an amazing bowl. Kaminari is my favourite ramen restaurant in Toronto. The vibe is Tokyo: Japanese design books, great lighting, and a really good, solid state sound system. Most importantly, they have well-made seating and tables that are the right width for conversation. They've thought of everything.

Not on par with the best ramen Toronto has to offer, but a hidden gem.

I went in for a paitan soy with an onsen egg. But first of all, I want to mention how cozy and lovely the interior is! I really love the vibes of this place. The chicken breast was so juicy and tender and the broth warmed me up on a cold day. I’ll be back to try the tokyo soy sometime!

Had to stop in here to test the mixed reviews. It's a Gem 💎, the owner was super friendly and attentive from start to finish.
Ordered ebi siu-mai pork/prawn Dumplings, they were hearty but so good. Got Gohan rice dish with pork, super tasty, cured my hangover, the sticky rice is good. 🍚
Had the Paitan Shio Ramen, Very unique flavour and great portion. Added Duck pieces to be fancy, also worth trying, highly recommend very Chicken esk broth flavour. Girl got Tokyo Soy, I liked the flavour of hers but wouldn't have changed my order, hers was good though, she was very happy. Added the recommended Eggs 🥚
Great experience, great value, great hats.

Restaurantji Recommends
I’m disappointed I didn’t discover this place sooner. Awesome vegan options, cool vibes, drink list is top notch. Will be back and will recommend to everyone. The only thing me and my friend wished is the ramen had more veggies(mushrooms would be dope).

Beware of rude and hypocritical owner
This used to be my favourite ramen place, but unfortunately not anymore, due to the owner’s attitude.
I was dining in with my partner, and we ordered one ramen to share. At no point during ordering did the owner mention any policy requiring each customer to order a full meal. The waitress even provided an extra bowl for sharing, which made us believe this was acceptable.
However, when we paid the bill, the owner made a passive-aggressive comment saying that next time every customer must order a meal. This was said only after the fact, which felt unnecessary and disrespectful. My partner was feeling nauseous, which is why we didn’t order a second dish, but we didn’t feel obligated to justify ourselves.
I calmly suggested that if this is a strict policy, it would be helpful to either post a sign or have staff explain it before customers are seated, to avoid misunderstandings. The owner dismissed this suggestion, saying it was “common sense,” which came across as arrogant and rude.
Perhaps there was a misunderstanding or something lost in translation, but the interaction left a very bad impression. The owner showed none of the hospitality or customer-first attitude typically associated with Japanese service culture.
If you have a small appetite or plan to share, this may not be the right place for you. Sadly, I don’t see myself returning.

I used to be a recurring customer here, but today was my last visit. My partner and I were told we could only sit at the bar because it was busy, which we understood and accepted. After sitting down, the owner asked me to move to another seat in a very rude manner. I felt so uncomfortable that I decided not to eat, and only my partner ordered food. When we went to pay, the owner told me not to come back if I wasn’t ordering even though there was food on our table.
Unprofessional, disrespectful behavior from the owner. Definitely a NO-GO. Don’t waste your money where customers are treated this way.
