Something has changed about this place, my last meal a few weeks ago with a friend, both of our dishes were off. We've been here a handful of times and have always had a great meal but this last one I couldn't finish and didn't even eat the leftovers. Unfortunate.

Probably the best Pad See Ew I’ve had in the entire city. It was incredibly flavourful and made with the same thick rice noodles used in thailand. Khao San Road was absolutely fabulous. We were surprised to be seated so quickly at 6:30 on a Friday - usually the place is very busy and you can expect a wait. Service was quick and friendly and the food is just delicious! A real gem for Thai food in Toronto and absolutely worth waiting for a table if you need to. Only -1 on atmosphere for how loud it was, but that’s typical of downtown Toronto restaurants.

We recently visited Khao San Road on a Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by how smooth the experience was, even though they don’t take reservations (walk-ins only). We had a group of five and were seated outside within 5–10 minutes, which was great.
Service was solid throughout. our server was attentive and had great timing when it came to drinks, starters, mains, and clearing the table. The pacing felt natural; nothing was rushed, but everything came out in a timely manner.
We started with the squash fritters, which were a hit! Crispy, flavourful, and paired perfectly with a sweet and lightly spiced dipping sauce. The Thai iced tea latte was exactly as expected sweet, creamy, and refreshing.
For mains, we each tried something different and were all happy with our meals. Here’s our ranking from most to least favourite (though even the last was still enjoyable):
Khao Soi – Rich, creamy, packed with flavour. The standout dish.
Green Curry Fried Rice – Fragrant, well-balanced heat, and deeply satisfying.
Pad See Ew – Comforting and savory, with nicely charred noodles.
Bangkok Style Pad Thai – Good spice, but definitely for those who can handle heat.
Three Flavour Pad Thai – Still tasty, but just didn’t hit the same high notes as the others.
We ordered everything at spice level 3, which is their standard “spicy” which very manageable and enjoyable. The Bangkok Style Pad Thai, however, was ordered at “Thai spicy” and definitely brought the heat. Great if you love spice, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who’s unsure as some in our group found it very hot.
Overall, Khao San Road is a great spot for Thai food in Toronto. The walk-in-only policy might not work for everyone, but our experience was smooth and worth it. I’d definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Great food and very attentive service but a very tight, small confined space. Definitely you can tell they're cramming in more wooden seats so everyone is very close to each other.

Dishes are pretty good but the service is awful. First of all, tables are squeezed together and the background music is way too loud. It’s psychology strategy, forcing people to finish their food as soon as possible because the layout and the music. Then the servers observe you and if you finish most of the dish and slow down your eating speed, they will approach and ask if they could remove the plates. Some customers are so kind and then eat more quickly till they leave. The whole environment is deliberately designed to cut the eating time and guide customers to eat quickly and leave quickly. I have nothing to say about it, feeling like they think all the customers will not notice these tricks. I love the food but for service, emmmm…

We go there pretty often, love the pad Thai and garlic chicken, food is nice. I would say the atmosphere is acceptable, seats are too squeezed I feel like sharing dinner with the next table, yes that was how close they were to each other. And one waitress there, with one ponytail, slim and black hair? She is kinda awful. We felt so pushed, dish half finished and she already asked us if she could take the plate away. She took them away, then, as she wished, but she left the table uncleaned, then what’s the point of taking the plates? Now we were facing the dirty plain table? I don’t know if she wants to just sweep us off, so that she could serve more guests and get more tips? But that’s not how hospitality works

PAI for those who don’t want to have to reserve a month in advance. I’ve been to both several times and I’ll be honest, they’re on the same level. Prices are reasonable and flavors are great. Expect 30 min plus line during weekend evenings, but there’s a cozy bar upstairs where you can wait. Service was good overall. Perfect to catch up with friends.
Special shout-out to the green curry, the table favorite. We wanted to order more rice just to make the curry last a little longer.
Love that they have such a variety of spiciness

Part of date night! Meal before a play (Clue). Arrived just after 5 and were seated before the rush. It fills up fast, so consider this when planning a visit. The food was very good and very reasonably priced.
Food is very rich in flavour.
The food was too salty and the service was terrible. The tables were so close together that it felt like we were dining with the people next to us.
Best pad thai ive had so far. Everything about this place is honestly amazing. Food is really really good. Service is kind and in point. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is really nice. Nothing to complain about here. Will come back to try new things
Best thai restaurant in Toronto!
