We went to Kost on a winter day and enjoyed every minute of it. Our server was warm, friendly and fun. The food and wine were delicious. The view will take your breath away! A wonderful experience all around.

An anniversary date on Valentine's day, KŌST made it special. I was nervous and little upset at first because when I made this reservation back in early January, I received a call from management a few weeks before Valentine's that they were implementing a fixed dinner. I just booked the reservation for after show drinks. KŌST didn't disappoint, when I contacted management they removed the fix dinner plan. When we arrived, staff were smiling, attentive, and friendly. They gave us an amazing table immediately with prosecco. The views are beautiful and the venue is vibrant and inviting. The cocktails were equally impressive! I am impressed but the customer caliber from management across to the server, who was fabulous. The music was a little heavy and loud but that is just me otherwise a perfect evening.

Unfortunately, my recent visit to Kost left me feeling more shortchanged than satisfied.
Let’s start with the pasta. At $34 for a “large” plate, expectations are naturally elevated. What arrived at the table, however, could hardly justify the adjective. The portion was astonishingly small—closer to an appetizer than a main course. In an era where restaurants lean on presentation to elevate modest servings, this dish didn’t even compensate with complexity or indulgence. It simply felt meager. When you’re paying downtown Toronto prices, you expect generosity or brilliance. Ideally both.
The drinks followed the same philosophy: premium pricing, restrained pours. I have no objection to paying for quality cocktails, but there’s a difference between refinement and parsimony. These leaned firmly toward the latter. The glassware was elegant; the liquid inside disappeared in a few polite sips.
To be fair, not everything faltered. The ambiance is appealing—polished, stylish, and well-suited for an evening out. Service, too, was attentive and professional. Staff handled the room with grace and efficiency, which only amplified the disappointment of what came out of the kitchen.
A restaurant can trade on atmosphere for only so long. Ultimately, value is measured on the plate and in the glass. At $150 for two, I left not angry—but hungry. And in this industry, that’s perhaps the most damning critique of all.

The service was outstanding — attentive to every detail, warm, and professional without being overwhelming. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. The atmosphere and vibes were beautiful — elegant yet lively. The energetic noise level added to the experience and made the celebration feel even more special and vibrant. It had the perfect balance of excitement and comfort. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. We tried 5 of the small plates. Two were good - both of the tacos were delicious. I didn't love the calamari, tamale, or ceviche. The nonalcoholic drinks need a lot of work. The crusty blankets on the booth seats need to be replaced - right away. The staff was attentive, the bright, natural light was uplifting. I would go back for the tacos... if the blankets are gone. They smelled.
