From start to finish this place wowed my partner and I! We came to celebrate his birthday and they gave us a semi private space to sit and enjoy our dinner. Eduardo was our main server who was very kind, knowledgeable and attentive. He explained all the menus in detail and was just delightful. Santana served most of our food dishes with enthusiasm and a precise explanation of each dish and what we should expect to taste. The cocktails were otherworldly in regards to presentation and taste. Highly recommend their version of a Oaxacan Old Fashioned made with tequila añejo instead of the traditional bourbon and yet somehow still tasted like the classic cocktail! I was very impressed. Our favourite dish was the Black Augachile which was the starter. The appetizer was very fresh and the presentation was simple but colourful, our taste buds were very pleased. Our second favourite dish was the Oaxacan Tetela, something about this dish felt homemade and nostalgic, it was a beautiful feeling. I came here for my birthday. LOVE THE VIBE. They served the fanciest margarita I've ever had. It was delicious!I would have liked to do the tasting menu, but they ran out by the time we got there. I'm vegetarian, and I found this place on Yelp while looking for vegan places in Toronto. Me and my bf came here without a reservation, and we expected to just sit at the bar since the tables were most likely all full. The hostess kindly said there was one table available, and so we got to sit down as a walk-in! The service was amazing, the hostess and servers were very attentive and explained the dishes and answered questions we had about the menu. We ordered the Mexican street corn soup as a starter and wow, it was delicious! It was rich with flavor and had a smokiness to it; it ended up being our favorite dish. We got the mushroom suadero tlacoyo and mole blanco as our mains, and they were so delicious. The mole blanco was creamy and rich, with the mushrooms being the perfect addition to the dish. The mushroom suadero tlacoyo was seasoned well and the spicy sauce it came with tasted amazing, we couldn't get enough. Every item on the menu looked yummy, so we'd love to return and try different dishes. They offer a tasting menu for $75 that looks like a great deal, so maybe next time we'll order that. La Bartola is a fine dining, vegan gem that is worth the price and won't break the bank; I couldn't recommend it more!
