Slow service. Had to always call server over to get any sort of service. Food was good. A bit more spicy than usual. But we're never acknowledged by server and had to ask for drinks, to order food, find out where our food was and the bill. Drinks were great and the food was good as well.
Sadly, their Diet pop order hadn't arrived, so I opted for a Margarita. It was very good. We had the tortilla chips and corn salsa as an appetizer...different and tasty. We had the chicken quesadilla and it was nice. My companion had the sweet potato taco and I had the carne asada one. They were a bit pricey for the portion size but tasted fresh. Churros came with a nice caramel sauce for dessert. The place was really busy and we could tell it's a popular venue in the area. Our server was very pleasant and explained the specials to us. It was different than what we usually eat but overall, a nice change of pace.
Ambiance was good. Value was just ok. Unfortunately, our waitress look like she was very apathetic and decided to just leave us at our table wondering where she was hiding out: when she did come to the table, she moped something and then left very quickly
I should have checked the menu more carefully before we went. This place only has spicy tacos. The menu is very limited. We had the chips and salsa to start. They were very good and the salsa is very fresh. Tacos are corn although we were able to substitute flour. Each taco is very small so don't go there too hungry. Each taco has a unique selection of set toppings which worked with the protein. The shrimp taco is made with breaded fried shrimp and was very good. I thought the chicken was the best. The steak taco is definitely the most spicy of the three but had very good combo of toppings. Unfortunately the churros were not safe for a person with a peanut allergy which we're hoping to try. They are super busy and service is a bit slow for a taco joint.
The tacos were really good and I'm from Texas where we have incredible options for tacos. Outside seating is very loud so keep that in mind if noise level matters to you (also if you're visiting with young children because the songs played are all the explicit versions). Inside aesthetic is really cool. Definitely recommend!
Food was phenomenal! Only thing that was a LITTLE disappointing was how long it took for the food to come out - but didn't take away the fact that the food was amazing.
Atmosphere and location were great, good music and wonderful service. Food was delicious and service was fast!
Overall good experience. Server forgot to enter our order of chips and guac. Food was so incredibly spicy...too spicy for some. I also listed in our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. No one acknowledged that.
Was a great experience and our biggest regret is not going sooner as we are normally going too the theatre down there The food was great, staff were fantastic, Hopefully we'll be back soon
A local neighbourhood restaurant we like visiting . They have a beautiful patio sitting for the summer with ample seating indoors ( the indoors has a different dim vibe ) Tables have a quick turnaround time so never wait terribly long, but weekends can have long waiting periods . Their nacho.poetion are huge , a good choice if in a group . Their tacos are always filling

La Carnita on John St was great! There was a lovely outdoor patio, the indoor ambiance was fun and playful, service was great, and food was super tasty (the menu should note that it's spicy). I will definitely return!
10/10 experience! We sat upstairs, the sangria was incredible and the food came super quick and was delicious!! Will definitely be back!!!
The La Carnita & sweet Jesus was absolutely amazing – so rich and full of flavour, definitely a must-try. The location is also perfect, and the vibe of the place is super warm and welcoming.
Special shoutout to our server Simone, who was incredibly patient, kind, and attentive throughout.
Such a lovely restaurant overall – I would definitely recommend it and can’t wait to go back!
My friends and I came here after a Blue Jays game and the all food was so good! We got the pollo fritos, carne asada, sweet potato, and pork belly el pastor tacos for dinner and the tres leches and churros for dessert
We will definitely come back here in the future when we are in the area :) the pork belly and carne asada tacos were a favorite amongst the group as well as the churros
Loved that they had margarita specials — and they were delicious! The food was also really good. We booked a table since there were 8 of us, and only had to wait a couple of minutes while they set it up.
There was a bit of confusion with the orders — we received a few dishes we didn’t ask for and had to correct them — but aside from that, it was a great experience. Highly recommend this place!
