I've discovered Lan Restaurant just recently and have been sampling their menu for the past few weeks now.The litmus test of any Vietnamese restaurant is it's Pho, particularly the broth. The broth is a alchemy that when prepared *just so* becomes a magical experience. In this case, Lan passes the test with flying colours. The broth is savory, and marbled with just the right amount of fat.Beyond broth alchemy is the establishment itself and its owners. I've known many Vietnamese restaurant owners over the years, but I have to say...Lan is rather special. Her demeanor is...well...genuine. She is the kind of person that you can easily fall into the orbit of. Just today, she was telling me about the differences between how north and south Vietnam serve their Pho. We then had a heartfelt conversation about the difficulties of being a restauranteur on Leslieville Queen during the pandemic. There is something special about Lan, and I am going to continue to order from them to discover all the nuances.
A real hidden gem in the east end. The BEST deep fried spring rolls I've had outside of South East Asia. The family who run the restaurant are so sweet and you can see how hard they work to make the food great! I'm so happy I came across this place, can't recommend enough!
The ownership are amazing!!!My personal favourite is the sweet and spicy chicken and rice noodles.
Lan’s food is fresh & delicious! The best spring rolls, period. And Lan herself is a huge helping of positive energy. So happy to live a short walk away (but definitely worth the drive if you aren’t close!). Thank you, Lan, for last night’s amazing & bountiful feast!
We found this surprise in our take out bag! LAN is always so delicious and we get quick and friendly service and conversation when we pick up our order.
Wonderful, delicious and flavorful food. Excited that there are gluten free options.
Delicious food, reasonable prices, quick turnaround and great (and memorable) service. Highly recommend eating here. Gluten free, dairy free and soy free options. If you can order ahead and pick up your food instead of getting delivery, it makes a huge difference to their bottom line and it ensures their longevity in our community.
My husband and I discovered LAN during the pandemic and it’s so good that I’m sad we didn’t know about the restaurant before! We’re vegetarians and LAN has so many delicious vegetarian options; our favourite is the lemongrass tofu. The flavours in all the dishes we’ve tried are simply the best- they taste fresh and leave us wanting more. Our toddler loves the food, too, which is a huge bonus. On top of the great food, Lan and her staff are wonderful; so friendly and lovely. Lan and her family really care about their business, their food, and their customers. I can’t recommend LAN highly enough.Thank you, Lan!
wonderful food - flavourful and quality ingredients! Delivery quick and food arrives hot and ready to serve. This is our go-to treat!
I have just made my first visit to LAN and it will not be my last. The deep fried spring rolls were fresh and delicious and so was the chicken vermicelli bowl. I look forward to exploring the menu further.. and supporting this fantastic and friendly local restaurant!

This place ...yes, the food is crazy delicious and the prices are reasonable, but the woman who runs this restaurant is a national treasure who must be protected at all costs. Sweetest, happiest person who clearly cares so much about sharing the food she and her family love with everyone. She has remained cheerful and accommodating throughout Covid and just wants to get back to sharing her passion with people inside the restaurant she and her family have built.
If you get the chance to—I would highly recommend trying authentic Vietnamese food from Lan Vietnamese and supporting this small business.I do have to say, it’s on the pricier side of things, especially when it comes to Vietnamese food but it was worth it.My boyfriend and I ordered the crispy wontons, the vegan stir fry sweet sour and spicy rice noodles, and the bun cha obama. Our favourite dish by far was the bun cha obama! It’s a must try and different from other dishes I’ve tried. The owner was also so kind over the phone. I called because I couldn’t find the bun cha Obama on SkipTheDishes but he just told me to write my name down and he would make it for me.
Truly wonderful dishes. This is my first time eating from this restaurant and I can definitely say it wont be my last. We had the vegan pho and vermicelli bowls. The Pho was so flavourful we didn’t need to add anything, which is what i would usually do with other places I’ve been to. The tofu was cooked wonderfully and you could taste the love they put into their food. This is place has passion. Id take pictures but we ate the food too quickly it was so good. Ill post them next time. Please order and pick up if you do during these times. Ive never liked those online delivery services due to how much they add to the bill, so ill always pick up my food or use a restaurants own driver if they have one to support the business more. I encourage everyone to move in that direction so we have these amazing places once these challenging times have past.Very glad I over worked today and was too tired to make food and was then lead to this place. Keep up the great food and hang in there!
The best pho and Vietnamese food I've ever had. The vermicelli bowls and deep fried spring rolls are amazing. Great food by kind people!
Seeing all the good reviews here gave me a high expectation about the place. I ordered Bun Bo Hue, the staff was very nice and all, but this is completely not "Bun Bo Hue". Yeah, the broth is it, but the noodle is not, even the topping is not Bun Bo Hue Style. Just very upset because I really miss the true Bun Bo Hue, that's why I ordered it.
