Sat very close to another customer that was Asian. He ate his meal and didn’t really engage much with the server. He asked for the check after eating and the waiter came.

While he was paying she was hovering over him and then said “12 percent during this time of year is so cruel” and rolled her eyes and walked off.

This literally happened 2 feet away. None the less the rest of the meal for us was super awkward and uncomfortable we just wanted to leave.

Maybe if you do better service you’d get more customers . Plenty of other French restaurants around that aren’t racist. If you are that tip driven maybe you should find a restaurant that pays better wage?

Very off putting way to end the year. Customers are NOT entitled to pay you tips if they feel you don’t deserve it.

Some cultures just don’t tip. Such a shame that one person ruined the whole experience so much.
If you are a person of colour I don’t recommend this restaurant. Vibes are so off.

If you are however white or white passing .. totally different experience. I noticed the waiters to be alot more hospitable and chatty to the other tables that are not ethnic.

Tried this place 3x and can’t say I’ve seen any changes other than grumpy people working.

The food isn’t that amazing to even give that type of attitude. Go to Maison T way better food and refined and service is SO warm and amazing or even Chantecler on bloor.

A jewel of a resto in the charming, walkable Annex hood. The fish soup and bavette specials were delicious without heaviness and perfectly rendered. The heart of palm salad surprisingly bright, recalling culinary delights of Costa Rica. The service impeccable and friendly without overstaying at the table. Looking forward to our next visit!

The food here is delightful. I had the braised beef and it was incredibly filling paired with the complimentary bread and butter.

I had a cocktail with it and the prices for that are very reasonable considering the neighborhood. This is a restaurant for the people, not the tourists or suits.

Will be back!

Reasonable and affordable prices, which is rare to find nowadays. My husband and I shared 3 dishes. The portion sizes were good and we cleaned our plates! Reminds me of a Montreal Bistro. We will definitely come back to try some of their other dishes 🙂

We went to this French restaurant for a family supper, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The service was terrible. My partner's mother began to place her order, the waiter cut her off and said something along the lines of, “No. I will ask clockwise,” then proceeded to take someone else’s order. It was rude, uncomfortable, and completely unnecessary - especially since the orders ended up being mixed up anyway.

The restaurant is also extremely tight between tables, and instead of the servers clearing plates, we had to pass them down the table or pick them up ourselves. For a higher-end restaurant with higher prices, I would expect a much better level of service.

I ordered the steak, which was very mediocre. It was cooked well, but the cut wasn’t great, and the peppercorn sauce tasted more like a plain cream sauce with very little flavour. The lemon tart, however, was delicious.

Overall, I was very disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant. The service was lackluster, the space is uncomfortably tight, and the food simply isn’t worth the price.

This is the first time eating at this restaurant and the food was amazing, coupled with the ambience results in a great time. The duck confeit was flavourful, and the beef was so tender. I would definitely go back again.

Ok it may show its age in a few corners but it has charm. Food and service are consistently excellent...and have been for decades.

It was a little noisy in a full restaurant but nice selection of French inspired dishes.

This place was very confusing to me, the reviews are really good and I took my friends here for a nice dinner but as soon as I walked in I regretted it because the restaurant is so old and looked liked in hasn’t been maintained at all. It almost looks like a diner, so I thought the food must be amazing and it wasn’t. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t that great either and the service was so strange, a lady was serving us but I was literally scared of her because of how grumpy she was. I wouldn’t wanna go back to be honest, thought I found a hidden gem but i was wrong!
