Guess we were the idiots and didn't do our homework first prior to entering this establishment. We stood by the door for more than 15 minutes just waiting to get seated then decided to eat elsewhere. I see now that there are reviews from other people with wait times for more than 1 hour and the restaurant is not that busy. 🤦
We has #4 and #49. Sesame chicken was really good, appetiser, not so much. Service was ok.
I was introduced to Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant by a dear friend when I was visiting town. It was my first time tasting vegetarian Chinese food and to my pleasant surprise, it was absolutely delicious! Every dish was flavorful, and honestly, did not lack the taste of meat!
We ordered Mapo Tufu, Fried Noodle with Assorted Vegetables (item menu no. 94), Mock Sharkfin Soup (item menu no. 21), Stirfried Pad Thai (item menu no. 104), and my personal favorite, the Assorted Gluten plate (item menu no. 6). I was so into the appetizer plate, I only remembered to take a photo at the end!
If you are looking to try something new or even a new side of Chinese cuisine, I would highly recommend trying Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant. We will be back for more for sure!
Been going here over 20 years. Their food quality is still amazing. Very friendly staff, it's like coming home.
I don't often eat vegetarian food but I do appreciate good food and this is good food despite not having any actual meat. It's a very popular restaurant serving Chinese style vegetarian dishes. They even have vegetarian dim sum which are quite good. We went here because a couple of vegetarians were eating with us and this spot did not disappoint. All the dishes were very well prepared, great presentation and the taste were all on point. We will definitely be coming back.
Excellent food and friendly service. Fresh and delicious. Tried different appetizers and all good.
Vegetarian food can be incredibly delicious! With the right mix of spices, fresh ingredients, and creative recipes, it’s amazing how satisfying and flavorful plant-based dishes can be. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy and appreciate how tasty it is!
I’ve been going to Lotus Pond for decades. As a teen my parents would pack us in the car for the long drive for a treat of a meal at a restaurant, because it was so good there and staff was so friendly. Huge place, often totally full at peak times. Everything is good. Updated from previous review on 2025-02-27
I have been going to this restaurant with my family for over 30 years! It's one of the best in Toronto.
Vegetarian options: It's all veg
Dietary restrictions: No onions and garlic! That's what I like about it.

Bad service and overpriced.
We visited the restaurant on Monday lunchtime around 1pm. We were the only table at that time. The server punched in the wrong order and did not apologise. Instead of bringing us the correct dish, she told us the ingredients were the same that we should just take the wrong one. After 5 minutes, she put the new setting on the table next to us. It's only reasonable if they were busy or we were almost done. I felt like being rushed. She was on her phone the whole time instead of checking on us.
When we asked for the bill, she didn't bring the machine even I put the credit card on the table for a while. Bear in mind that we were the only table. For the excellent service she provided, I did not tip. Unfortunately the tap didn't work and she immediately grabbed the machine. She told me I didn't tip her and re-do the whole payment process. That's the only time she was at the table.
Siumai and steam tubes with spare ribs were the worst choices. Siumai was tiny and bland. The size of steam tubes was like 4 of your kids' pinky fingers.
Save your time and money for the poor service and small portion of food.

I..Is this heaven?
Very good food, very good service. The Love & I were the last customers there at closing. One of the ladies misunderstood that we wanted a to-go container, but thought we wanted another food order. They were willing to make it despite already telling us the kitchen was closed. It was like 9:25. They close 9:30.
