Disrespectful and absolutely disgusting behaviour from the staff. Please don’t support this restaurant.

It feels like home, very welcoming. Food and service is excellent. I invite all my friends, family and clients at Marcello’s they accommodate my needs in every aspect whether it would be food or sitting arrangements.
It is surely home for me and for a lot of us in our community and beyond! I am a returning customer because the service is excellent.

We were there last night (Wednesday night) and we were not impressed. My best friend inquired about vegetable options and if she could make substitutes to the pizza (elimination of meat) the server informed her that she couldn't have pizza because the dough was made with egg in it. The server told her she could only have the mix green salad or the soup. Mmmmm, since when is pizza dough made with egg? To top it off the dish that I ordered was Linguine Mare and it was drowning in oil from the sauce. My other friend ordered Penna A la vodka and there was 3 tiny pieces of porchetta. When observing the environment I noticed that the servers were more interested in what was happening outside and at the bar then servicing the tables. The owners should really consider retraining there servers on product knowledge and how to upsell. Offering someone soup and salad, 2 of ur cheapest items on the menu is not a good way to make money, thats just my thought. I will not be returning nor recommending this location to anyone

Was there today for my mother in laws birthday. 17 of us total. Felt rushed. Didn't bother ordering main dish because of it. Calamari was meh. Won't be back. Many other options on St Clair. Most will be happy you stay longer and spend.

Our family has been going to Marcello’s 3-4 times a year for 20 years. We’ve also eaten at their Richmond Hill location. When we first started going, there were always lineups to get in and found always found the food above average and prices to be very reasonable. On our last visit, there were 5 of us (and only a few other tables in the restaurant) and we received 6 pieces of complimentary bread with oil. When I asked for more bread, they told me that there was an additional charge - I said it would come out of his tip but my daughter-in-law told him I was just joking. When the bill came, it was $140 before tip and I left 18% as prompted by the machine, however, I don’t think I will ever come back because there are so many other options available.

This was, by far, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Toronto.
Across the street another Italian restaurant “Big Slice” offers food at half the price and honestly, if you prefer dishes without much flavor, you can get the same experience there for far less money.
At Marcello’s, I asked about the lack of flavor and poor menu choice in their seafood pasta, and the server explained that “in Italy they don’t serve seafood in white sauce.” What she didn’t realize is that we’re from the Adriatic coast, where seafood cuisine is an essential part of daily life. When I mentioned that, she asked if we were Albanian, which made us laugh but also showed a surprising lack of geographic and cultural knowledge.
For clarity: Croatia, located on the Adriatic Sea right next to Italy, is known for sharing a very similar culinary tradition with Italy. Many dishes considered “Italian” actually originate from, or are heavily influenced by, Adriatic coastal cuisine. In that region, serving low-quality, bland food simply doesn’t fly—people expect freshness and genuine flavor.

Unfortunately, the meal I received at Marcello’s was completely tasteless and extremely disappointing. It was one of the most flavorless dishes I’ve ever been served.

This review isn’t coming from someone who “just didn’t like the food.” Or shared personal opinion. I have 20 years working experience in some of the best restaurants in North America and I hold a 4-year European Chef Diploma, Diploma in Culinary Arts and I am a Canadian Red Seal–certified Chef.

Based on my professional background and experience, the quality here was far below acceptable standards.
