On a perfectly wintery evening, my family planned to go to a nice coffee and we zeroed in on Aux Merveilleux de Fred and had mixed feelings about the experience. I tried the chocolate chip and the sugar Cramique, which were both good—fresh, soft, and flavorful. However, the beverages didn’t quite meet my expectations. I had both a cappuccino and a latte, and they were just okay—not bad, but not particularly memorable either.
The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, with a cozy vibe that made it a nice spot to relax for a bit. However, despite the nice setting and decent pastries, the overall experience was somewhat underwhelming. It didn’t leave a strong impression or make me feel eager to return.
We also had the chocolate pudding that wasn’t great and we were not able to finish it. We slso had the dark chocolate Merveilleux, which was OK but was too sweet for dark chocolate flavour.
I think it’s a good spot if you’re in the area and want a quick pastry, but there’s room for improvement, especially with the coffee and overall cohesiveness of the experience.
Parking: Tough to find a parking spot nearby.

The very very best meringue dollops!
Shared a box of various flavours with my family & we thoroughly enjoyed them all. ‘Magific’!

Staff was helpful but not very friendly- no decaf and huge lineup. Only one barista working the coffee section at peak lunch time rush hour.

I’ve been here twice. Once on a busy afternoon in the spring and the bread was less fresh and the cafe was too crowded. I didn’t enjoy the chocolate bread then because it was too chocolatey. I returned on a brisk fall morning when they opened and the sugar raisin bread, cromik, and latte were divine

A beautifully baked brioche bun, with a golden brown exterior and an intricate complex yet light structure on the inside, littered with chocolate chips that melt in your mouth.

OMG! This bakery is amazing! Their pastries are incredibly fresh—I tried the chocolate chip brioche, and it was warm and perfectly fluffy because it had just come out of the oven. So delicious! I also got a London Fog, and it was creamy and comforting—just what I needed.

Every time I'm in Toronto, I come here. Am here now and just went earlier today. These pastries are sooo delicate and delicious. It's like heaven and melts in your mouth. A flavor and texture experience.
My only critique is that the staff sometimes can make you feel rushed. I need more time here than anything because I don't speak French and it takes me time to read the lengthy descriptions. And it sometimes feels like I'm being an inconvenience.
But none of that will prevent me from coming back still, every single time

The waffles were to die for. We never had meringue before but were pleasantly surprised by the texture. Will be back for sure.
Meringues still pretty good.

Merveilleux is marvallous. Truly delicious pâtisserie. Worth going just for the meringues alone.

The hands down best sandwiches I have had in years. Sadly my dog can’t go in, so no chance for a sit down.
The brioches are nice fluffy and the sandwiches topping are incredibly flavourful. My favourite is the Curry
