I have come here for more than a decade and I am not sure if the ownership changed hands or they have a different baker but the buns are not as good as they once was. I'm not sure if it's cause they're trying to make more variety instead focusing on doing less with better quality. The prices have gone up and the buns have less filling and pineapple buns tend to be overcooked, with the golden yellow crust and most of the buns a dark brown. It's kind of sad...
Mashion Bakery easily wins the best Hong Kong-style bakery in downtown Toronto. From egg tarts, pineapple buns, to ham sui gok (salt water dumpling), there's real quality and art to their products. Everything is also not overly sweet. Packaged together with very welcoming service. Winning combination all around.
Mashion Bakery has quickly become one of my favourite spots in Toronto. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warm, comforting smell of freshly baked pastries and a display case that could tempt anyone. The atmosphere is bright, welcoming, and always buzzing with happy customers, which says a lot!
