Atmosphere was nice, not too busy; came after restaurant updates. Came as a group of 3 and ordered the steamed broccoli, Char Siu Ribs, General Tao chicken, Belt Noodle, and stuffed chicken wings. General Tao chicken was the best dish, but overall the food and taste was underwhelming.

Very disappointing. My friend and I were so excited to come here after reading about their 4 foot broad noodle dish in Toronto Life. We were seated at one of the very comfortable and spacious semi circular booths and the service was pleasant, but nothing notable. As our dinner progressed, the service became indifferent, and as we were leaving I found it to be rude (no smiles, no thanks for coming, no eye contact...bizarre to me). While we really enjoyed the General TsaonChicken specialty, we found the 4 foot broad noodle to be underwhelming.

I highly recommend opting for the chef's tasting menu—it is a unique experience from start to finish. Just be sure to book a reservation well in advance, as the restaurant fills up quickly. The service is top-notch; the team is incredibly knowledgeable and goes to great lengths to explain the story and ingredients behind every dish.

Overpriced. Small portions with large prices, and the food doesn't taste THAT great! It's a nice restaurant though, and our server was excellent.

The food here is absolutely phenomenal. Stand outs are the shrimp toast, the belt noodles and lamb fried rice. Cocktails were also awesome - I highly recommend the Tropic Thunder mocktail but add baijiu! Giving 4 stars even though the food was so good because the service was a little off - our server was perfectly nice but we had to, multiple times on multiple occasions, flag him down as he wasn’t very attentive even though the restaurant wasn’t super busy. Otherwise, he was a little bit disinterested. Hoping it was just an off night but all in all, worth it for the incredible food.

In general, we are pretty happy with our birthday dinner at the Mimi Chinese. There are a few areas that could use some improvements.
Firstly, the overall service at the restaurant was excellent; but its reservation process would need some streamlining. In the past, we had attempted to make reservation multiple times at MIMI Chinese but unsuccessful due to our number of people in our family (12-14 people) and with short notice each time (within one week). This time, we made the reservation 3 1/2 weeks in advance but it could only be done via email. The communications between the restaurant event planner and us required multiple emails and we still did not have a full understanding of the Family Meal dishes and total cost for our family (we had 8 adults, 2 teens and 1 toddler). I believed this reservation could have been resolved easily if the restaurant event planner had talked to us directly.
Secondly, when we arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes too early (our reservation was for 5pm), the entrance was locked (the restaurant opened at 5pm) and the staff told us we could not enter the restaurant until 5 pm because the staff were still doing their final preparations. We had to stand outside of the restaurant at -10C windy weather for over 10 minutes. The staff should’ve let us waited inside the restaurant waiting area while they were completing their final preparations!!!
After we entered the restaurant at 5pm, the service from the wait-staff was excellent. We finally were able to review the Family Meal dishes in detail (i.e. how many dishes per each item of the Family Meal) and to adjust the number of dishes per each item. After some discussions, the wait-staff and the kitchen staff were able to make some final adjustments and added additional dishes for our family.
The meal was good but it was not as unique as comparing to its sister restaurant Sunnys Chinese. We also thought the menu was slightly over priced for the dishes that we had (our final bill was over $2,200, including tips and taxes). Overall, we would come back here only for special occasions but not as our regular drop-in restaurants.

Food was decent but overhyped, especially for the price point. The crispy chicken was quite good but the beef was extremely over salted. Nobody at our party had more than a piece or two of the beef since it was so salty. The noodles were a little bland. We didn't leave feeling full.
The service and staff were excellent. Cool atmosphere as well.
This restaurant consistently delivers amazing upscale Chinese dishes. Love the addition of the char siu ribs - the lacquered glaze was like candy. The turnip cake has spoiled dim sum for life. Highly recommend, especially for a special occasion because the decor is very romantic.
