The food was amazing, it tasted so fresh and delicious. The breading on the Tonkatsu was unlike any other breading I've had in a really good way. It has a nice sweet flavour. Kaoru and Milan were so kind, friendly and helpful! I felt welcomed and appreciated as a customer! A++

Very small and cozy with a nice range of options. If you like breaded pork dishes, you're in the right place. And just steps from Bathurst Station! Grab a bite on your way home from work.

Nicely crispy tonkatsu. The portion size for the set was quite filling — I didn't even have room for dessert after! Good value for money.

I always love going to this spot. Go-to is always the chicken Katsu curry. The curry is so delicious and velvety every time we come and the chicken is perfectly crispy and moist. Mr. Tonkatsu and the staff are amazing at this location each time. 🙏🏻

Restaurantji Recommends
Ordered curry cheese-katsu and a side of crispy thighs. A big problem is that both meat tastes frozen. Could thaw in salt water to remove that taste or use a little more seasoning to cover up. Katsu sauce would be great but none come with it maybe because I ordered the curry one.
Curry is ok. Cabbage is not as sweet as Japanese cabbage but it’s ok with the yuzu vinaigrette. The breading and frying was good but the taste is just okay. Miso soup taste like store bought powdered ones, not rich in dashi, not much ingredients, not flavourful. Don’t expect gourmet it’s alright if you want quick Japanese style meal. $35 pre-tip is definitely a bit much for the quality. Service is ok.

Service wasn't great. We were only one of the few guests in the evening for dinner, and our water wasn't refilled at all during the entire dinner.
But the main issue was that our party all had food poisoning. We're not sure where it was from either the Katsu, Rice cake or fried shrimp. The miso soup was sour but we thought it might have been intentional, however that couldv been it.
This was not a great experience.
I've been to other locations and had a much more pleasant experience.

Ordered online uber eats, not great. Chicken a bit soggy, not enough sauce for cabbage. What is this sauce for ants?! 🤣 Anyways thanks.
The atmosphere is good. We met a kind staff who was doing part time job from george brown.
Unpretentious and Utterly Satisfying!
On a chilly Toronto night, stumbling upon Mr. Tonkatsu was a stroke of luck! This unpretentious spot delivers truly solid bites with zero fuss. As a big fan of Japanese-style curry, I opted for their chicken option, and it absolutely hit the spot. The complexity of the ingredients shone through, yet the presentation remained wonderfully simple – a solid 10 in my book!
I also had a taste of their soba noodles, and wow! They were incredibly rich and flavourful, leaving me already planning a return trip just to try a full order.
The little touches really elevated the experience. The sweet pickles were an unexpected and delightful treat alongside the curry, and the cabbage with vinegar provided a perfect refreshing balance.
The staff were remarkably attentive, and the food arrived in what felt like mere seconds! This makes Mr. Tonkatsu an excellent choice for a quick and delicious meal. Can't recommend it enough – especially those tempting soba noodles❣️
