It's a confusing mix of American music, and South African cuisine.The beef sausages were amazing, but are from Plan B. There are no desserts on the menu.One of the best things about this restaurant is the attentive bartender, who is brilliant, he thinks on his feet, and can mix up a drink that you will enjoy.When booking through the restaurant's website, you need to specify that you want a seated area, otherwise you will get a seat at the bar, or a standing table; if you're there for the cocktails, then that's great, but if you also want to dine, it's a bit of a let down.The atmosphere is that of a time of great music, with vintage boom boxes on the wall, and live music showcasing local talent. Moods, and vibes are ruined by the smell of sewage coming from the basement. The smell is prominent near the bar, when the door to the cellar is open, and when using the restrooms. The lack of footrest, and the uncomfortable art deco stools, showing wear and tear makes for an uncomfortable experience at the bar.

I booked a table for 8 for my birthday on January 19, 2024. Half my party hadn't even showed up yet and the server decided to cut off my girlfriend from alcohol. We had just come from dinner and had 3 or 4 drinks each (max) and this server decided to cut her off. My girlfriend ordered the first round and the server brought us our drinks but decided to give my gf water. This place ruined my birthday and I honestly think that the server thought that my gf was someone else and decided to ruin all our fun. I will never go to this place ever again. I DO NOT recommend this place at all.

We were two brown guys at the bar. We waited for half an hour at the bar just to be served while everyone else got served except us so we walked out. The people behind the bar literally looked right through us. We asked one of the bartenders and he told us to ask another bartender.
The atmosphere is great with the live music! I took a friend out to celebrate her birthday! I had two cocktails they were ok. I wasn’t able to try the food at the time, so I ordered onion rings. My server was quite rude, literally turned his back to me all night while engaging hospitably with my guest. Even ended the night by turning his back to me after I paid the bill to say to her “**you** come back”. It was very strange and off-putting. Don’t think I’ll be back to try the food like I’d hoped… Everyone else was wonderful, even the crowd!

Be mindful of your bill! The servers will charge you extra when you're not looking. Who knows how many people they've done this to. Our bill came up to $150. My friend checked the receipt to clarify and the server added $50 worth of drinks on top of the original bill. We had to return to get our money back.

Mrs. R has become a staple for good times, and esp good music.I've been visiting at least once a year for the past few years. I have never had a bad night. There was that one incident witmessed re some wild dancers and a bumped DJ booth.I've only gone on the weekend, mostly for the dj, drinks, and dancing. But we've had dinner there as well.Top marks for the Saturday night DJ. They are always found melding r&b, dance, soul favorites from the 70's through 90's. An audio trip down memory lane and the whole joint is loving it.I've had the pleasure of dinner with a live musician on guitar and that was also very good.The food is pretty good. Service is cordial. Portions are neither generous nor small. Pricey but not surprisingly so. It is Toronto after all. After a night of dancing and drinking, we just wander into one of the all night eateries in the area.The bar is standard. Crowded. Creative. Efficient. Cold. Gets the job done."Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home"God bless you pls Mrs. R! You've never let us down. See you again very soon.
