Food here was just ok, the wings and squid were way too salty, and the fried rice just lacked flavor. Nice decor inside but typical of a lot of chinese restaurants on spadina the service was minimal at best.

Visited New Ho King in Chinatown, Toronto for the first time as a New Yorker. The menu was too big and overwhelming I didnāt jack it that much. The vibe was nice simple, open layout, and a comfortable space. Bunch of celebrities have dined here like Drake and Kendrick. the hype is real, but personally I find it overrated. Service was decent, and overall itās a decent spot if youāre in the area. Great price for the portion sizes.
Appetizers
201 spring roll
The spring roll was great big portion and crunchy. Only reason itās not a 5/5 is the filling couldāve had a bit more flavor. Still really good. I rate it 4/5
213 Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Spicy Salt
The soft shell crab was crispy, tender, and with a kick of spic. Crab was gass. The deep-fried vermicelli was bland no flavor at all, but the texture paired with the crab works well. Solid appetizer. I rate it 4/5
Entrees
7 Curry beef brisket
The curry beef brisket was insanely tender melts in ur mouth, full of flavor, and absolutely gas. Enjoy it with a cup of rice or noodles as an entrƩe. I rate it 4.5/5
623 Szechuan beef
The Szechuan beef was really good
tender, spicy, and full of flavor. I just wish it was a little crispier. Solid sauce with a little kick to it. Meshes really well with the beef. Still a solid dish Iād order again. I rate it 4/5
820 General Tso Chicken lo mein
The General Tso Chicken with lo mein was disappointing. The chicken was tough, the noodles were bland, and the sauce was way too sweet reminded me of BBQ. Wouldnāt order again. I rate it 2/5
Legendary. Landmark of Chinatown, this was and still is my favorite place to get late night grub.
Spring rolls and spicy salty tofu are my go to.

I would just pick any Chinese food at food court over this restaurant.

Iāve been eating here for over 20 year and itās always been good. Buttonight was not the case. Pan fried dumplings were deep fried (I guess the cooks didnāt get the memo) and had no flavour. They used to serve this with a vinegar dipping sauce, not tonight. They were horrible. Our Shanghai noodles were cold and the shrimp was under cooked. Weāre ordered the chicken in satay sauce and it cold slimy and the sauce was like jelly. The service was some teenage kids that didnāt care about anything but what music they were going to blast very loudly. Why are you playing dance music really loud in a restaurant where people are trying to eat. They donāt even take your order anymore. Just write down the number on the menu. Itās sad what this place has become. Long gone are the days of good late night places to eat. And who ever owns this place now has lost this long time customer for ever. Iāll NEVER return and make sure all my friends know as well. Bad food, bad service, bad business. Donāt bother!

Got uber eats. the vegetarian chow mein tastes like absolutely nothing at all. like the sauce is made out of water. the general tao chicken was drowned in sauce about 8-10 pieces of chicken absolutely swimming. The ho king fried rice had a weird after taste.
Overall would never order this again.

0/10. Food is terrible. Service is terrible.
Visiting from NY. Stopped in for the fried rice with the dip sauce and a blammy, croadieā ⦠stunned by how awful the food is. Do not recommend.

Came for the fried rice with the dip sauce. The portions are really good, the bbq pork was delicious and horseradish sauce really opens up your sinuses.
