I’ve been a loyal customer for 25 years. The bread is the only thing now that’s acceptable. The pastries are frozen bought. The food has become horribly bland and expensive. Lucy has a had a good run but it’s time to hang up the apron.

An institution in the neighbourhood, North Pole is a classic old school bakery that offers pizza and pastries, and doubles up as a mini grocery. Pizza is pretty good but the pastries are great, with the standouts being the cannoli (piped fully) and rum ball (dense and chocolatey).

BEST Cannolis ever! Authentic and addictive, these cannolis are made by actual nonas. The thin crisp shell is perfectly balanced with the smooth creamy filling, and finished with a dusting of icing sugar.
