Nova Era went above and beyond, my daughter’s custom butterfly birthday cake was all she wanted and more! Moist cake, tasty fresh strawberries inside, and the design was identical to the picture we provided. Muito Obrigada!

My favourite spot for a latte and Portuguese sandwich Prego .

This is my favourite cafe and bakery in Toronto. It is a large space with high windows, lots of natural light and a nice view of Earlscourt Park across the road. Very reasonable prices for the wide range of sandwiches, cakes and pastries on offer. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and help create a nice atmosphere.
I've ordered their superb chocolate cake for Christmas and birthdays at home and everyone loves it. The dark rye loaves and Portugese breads are among my favourite take-home items.

Poor service. Waiting for a waitress for the longest time and 2 tables came in before my daughter and I and the waitress served them first. There are only 5 tables including my own. The waitress is clearing other tables instead of taking orders. They have so many waitresses and yet they can't handle 5 tables?

Came to the bakery on the corner and they took care of us right away.

Giving one star because the service is so consistently TERRIBLE! The staff are negligent, dismissive and unfriendly.

No one smiles at you when they come to your table. They show no urgency in taking your order or producing your order.
They are also lazy as they barely wipe down the tables and certainly never check the chairs to clean and the cutlery is always dirty.

There is no standards in this place. I don't know why they continue to have regular business.

Portuguese establishments in this city have a reputation for bad service and this place is the perfect example of why.

Great place with tons of space. The food and pastries are a must have. The natas are the best on the city. Highly recommend.

The staff wasn’t particularly friendly, but the egg tarts at this place are delicious. The sandwich was a bit salty. However, I think I'll still go back occasionally for the egg tarts.

While looking at sandwich prices, I saw a blank menu board. I was told the menu board was changing. Oh it is because prices are going up. I asked for menues to show selection. I was given one with prices. . New or old prices? Old prices. So the sandwich at $6.50 is now $7.25. ( as an example) . So even though the price says one thing the charge will be another, higher price. The individual I spoke with would not or could not understand that until the prices are there in writing you cannot charge someone an inflated price when they select something at a lower price. Needless to say, I did not buy a sandwich.

Racist employees.

Bakery closes too early at 7:50/8 pm. Even with Festivals at the park, they close at 8 sharp. Loosing a lot of money during events and festivities on St Clair and people won’t come back. I prefer to go to Caledonia Bakery, they were still open.

Great service. Their natas are good quality. Everyone's smiling and making an effort. No one rushed me to pay for hours, even when I changed tables and went out to catch some air for few minutes. Really good place to work if you don't mind the lack of outlets to charge your laptop.

Can't do it anymore. There are a couple of waitresses that are service-minded, that's about it.

For the most part, the service is lacking. Literally there will be waitresses chatting at the bar with their friends while you try to get their attention.

I go there once or twice a week, it's consistently like this

I experienced blatant racism and discrimination during my visit. The staff were incredibly rude and dismissive. The server hastily packed our food into a few bags and told us to "figure out" if everything was there. When we pointed out that two orders were missing, she condescendingly suggested we hadn't checked properly, implying we were lying.

I'm extremely disappointed and won't be recommending this place to anyone. If you are of Portuguese descent, you might receive better treatment, but otherwise, expect to be disregarded. What's more insulting is that my family has a Portuguese background and they treated us poorly just because we don't physically appear to fit the staff's stereotypical image of a Portuguese person. Zero stars for Nova Era Bakery.

The restaurant was busy due to Portugal's match and it was clear that the staff prioritized other customers based on their ethnicity. Every individual that walked in to the store got a seat excluding my family.

The overall experience was horrible, especially on Canada Day, when we hoped for a pleasant outing.
