Canteen is a bright space to meet for a snack or meal, especially breakfast and lunch, before and after films in the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Sound levels are great for conversation, service is very good, and menu choices, while somewhat limited, are tasty.
Went for Winterlicious - it was great - lots of options - Brussel Sprouts were AMAZING! S'mores dessert was AMAZING! Burger was AMAZING!
Overall, it was great. It usually is the menu offer as many options and the food is really well done. It was actually quiet enough to have a conversation.
Great place to eat before a show! The salmon was great, and served in a timely fashion with plenty of time to head to the theatre.
Great service! And so quick. We were running late and had theater tickets. Our server asked what time we needed to be out the door, explained which items would require longer to prepare, promptly took our order and everything went smoothly, but I still didn't feel rushed. Also, the food and the mocktail were very good.
It was the Sunday snowstorm after a movie @ TIFF so 2.00 when we arrived - not many others but the server was wonderful and we enjoyed the food and they served us a treat as an apology for a very minor incident and I was very impressed. I'm sure they wished they could have headed out into the crazy storm earlier than we allowed them to - but they were very patient and looked after us regardless.
We went for dinner before a show - staff were aware of the time and service was excellent. The crispy brussel sprouts were delicious as was the braised beef short rib! It's a very casual place with elevated food experience.
In spite of having made a reservation, the table given was the middle table . They showed that the canteen did not really care or distinguish between walking and the customers who had made reservation. should be improved.
We enjoyed a pleasant two course dinner before seeing a movie at TIFF Lightbox. Made for a great date night The service was friendly and prompt and our server was mindful of our showtime so no rushing. My only reservation about the food is that the potatoes were so hot, I burned my mouth, as if they'd been zapped in a microwave.
We four had a lovely lunch today.
Ryan was very attentive, our fish and chips came directly from the pan to our plates.
The haddock was flavourful- delicate whitefish in a light batter,it was excellent. The fries were very tasty; crunchy outside and soft but yummy inside.
The entire meal was delicious. We all chose the price fixed lunch menu and had splendid and tasty carrot cake for dessert..
What a terrific meal, for $30!

Whatever they do to the Fish & Chips is heavenly. Get it and thank me later.

I brought in my team for a lunch event - the restaurant was pretty much empty, so ambiance and sound levels were great. A couple of minor hiccups.... The entire table got their starters except me and it took about five minutes to flag someone down to grab my salad that was sitting there waiting. The food for the most part was quite good except for some burnt hamburger buns. Fixed price lunches were a good value.
Great spot in the heart of Toronto. I loved the tuna poke bowl and the espresso martini was delish! The chicken curry dish was also great

The food was very good. The server asked if there were any dietary restrictions or food allergies, and the kitchen was able to modify one of the dishes to accommodate a food allergy.
