What a delicious brunch experience at Ohiru! I ordered the Chicken Katsu Sando and every bite was so juicy. The bread was soft and perfectly toasted, the chicken was tender and crispy, and the accompanying sauce was one of a kind. The Kinako Sesame Latte was a soothing hot drink on a cold fall day. We waited 1.5 hours for a table on a Saturday but it was worth the wait! Once you sign up for the waitlist, you can see all the other parties ahead of you and the amount of time they've been waiting which kind of gives you an idea of how long it will be (~75+ min wait). I'm excited for my next brunch date!

This place is so good! We came - for the first time - this morning at 9 am to avoid the line. The service was kind and attentive. Everything was delicious. I appreciate that even the sides were will crafted. We had:
- Mushroom/spinach Benny
- Mixed fruit waffles
- Karaage
- Hojicha latte (a pleasant surprise)
Will absolutely be going again.

So good. We went back everyday during our holidays. The Ube latte and hochija Kyoto iced latte were our favourite reordered drinks

We have come to this cafe near to the Kensington market. The Taro and Hojicha lattes are very tasty! The Egg Benedict’s are very well made. The Mixed Berry waffles are filled with a lot of berries. We are really enjoying the brunch!

Had a great brunch at Ohiru midweek. The service is very polite and attentive.
Being vegetarian, it’s nice to see at least one meaningful veggie option on every segment of the menu. And Ohiru does it so well. The vegetarian options are able to stand their own against the non-vegetarian options. The Tamago Sando was absolutely fantastic. And the recipient of the Mushroom Spinach Benny couldn’t have raved about it more … and they aren’t even vegetarian.
The little nods to Japanese cuisine complement the brunch menu perfectly. This isn’t trying to be exclusively one or the other, but it perfectly melds the two into a delightful spot for comfort food.
I will definitely be making a return visit. Thank you.
Vegetarian options: There are a lot of great veggie options at Ohiru, the mushroom spinach benny is great, as is the Tamago Sando. On every segment of the menu, there is at least one vegetarian option and none of them are poorer cousins than the non-veggie options.

Cozy little cafe! There aren’t any reservations on the weekend but they have an electronic waitlist you can put yourself on when you arrive. Was a bit slow to get our drinks and they came out to our table 1 by 1, but they were tasty!
Chicken is so juicy and the furikake fries are to die for. One of my friends is gluten free and they did a great job accommodating her with different salad dressing, gluten free bread and an alternate side.

Very satisfying brunch, in both taste and portion size! Most of us didn’t end up finishing our food and had to take to-go. House potato sizes are amazing, smashed and baked whole baby potatoes full of flavors and crunch.

Great lunch with big portions, good service and a fair price!
We had: Smoked Salmon Benny, Menchikatsu sandwiches, Tonkatsu sandwiches, Karaage & Waffle
You can enjoy Japanese-style lunches such as pork cutlet, minced meat cutlet, fried chicken, and Benny made with Hollandaise sauce with yuzu. It's a popular restaurant, so we recommend visiting on weekdays. Although you cannot make reservations, there is a system where you can register your name and be called when your time comes.
We went on a Saturday at 12:00 and were able to start eating at 2:00.

Restaurantji Recommends
They have some great vegetarian options available. Service is good, but the only cons for this restaurant is that it is quite small and there is very limited space and a seating time limit. So you'll need to arrive very early for brunch.
One of my go-to places for brunch when I'm in the area. I love the nori fries they are so flavourful and crispy (big bonus if you like thin fries), highly recommend at least getting this. I think at this point I've tried everything one the menu and every taste great, I will say the sandwiches sit on the larger size in terms of portion, so if you're not in the mood for a lot then try something else. I liked the pastas as well. There isn't a lot of seating so call ahead if you're thinking about a walk-in. I wouldn't recommend take out if your order includes fries since they won't stay crispy that long for some reason.

Ohiru is a cozy little Japanese cafe on College street.
I ordered the chashu benny that came with potatoes and salad. I really like the flattened mini potatoes which were lightly salted. The salad dressing felt like was home made, but the salad could be a bit fresher. The chashu pork seemed like a good cut of meat, but was a bit tough for the less fatty section. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too sour for my liking. I’m pretty sure they were trying to make the pork belly feel less fatty that way, but the sauce did not seem to pair super well with the chashu
The matcha latte was good, but they could consider cutting back on the sugar level.

Great Japanese fusion brunch restaurant; only open til mid afternoon. No reservations but they have a wait list in their restaurant and they can text you when a table is free. Portions here are big and prices fair. Nice to see the use of shokupan (Japanese milk bread) in all their dishes involving bread. It’s definitely softer on the inside. The miso l syrup they use for waffles is also really tasty and better than actual maple syrup. Egg sando def brings back memories of the sandwiches Japan is famous for, albeit with less mayo.
