We arrived around 12:45pm on a Sunday. The restaurant was very busy. There were 13 groups ahead of us. They told us the wait might be around an hour. While we were looking for alternatives, we got a text message that our table was ready. We sat down around 1:15pm. The dining room was small. There were 4 four person tables and 2 two person tables. We ordered a latte and a hojicha latte. The drinks were just okay. The latte could use 1 more shot of espresso. We ordered a Tonkatsu Sando, Udon Carbonara and a Karaage & Waffles. All the food dishes were very good. The service was okay. Their tables were a little small so we felt a bit cramped.

This is the worst take out experience ever. In the restaurant the staff seemed lovely. However, for a place that has takeout only options, they dont seem to be able to pack for takeout. The lids on the latte didnt fit on the cup. By the time im back to the office I have half the latte I started with and the rest on my hands and pants. Even after that, I open the bag to have lunch hoping he food would be a redeeming quality... The lid on the curry obviously didn't fit! The curry went everywhere in the bag. How can I rate food that I cant even eat? For a place that has takeout specials. They cant even package for takeout. Unacceptable and wont be coming back

My go to Japanese brunch spot can never go wrong
A splendid and quaint japanese inspired brunch place, Ohiru knows how to do brunch well!
I was very pleased by their waffles and Matcha and would love to come back again. Food, service and the ambience was excellent. There can be a bit of a line so I would reccomend reserving!

This was my first time at Ohiru Cafe, and I would definitely come again! Both menu items we tried were amazing, we got the ‘Mushroom Spinach Benny’ and ‘Matcha Azuki French Toast’. They were fresh, flavourful, and filling. Our server was also very kind and attentive.

I really love this place for so many reasons — the food, the staff, and the prices. If you’re looking for a top-rated brunch and lunch restaurant in Toronto, this spot consistently delivers. Everything I’ve had so far has been excellent, and each visit reinforces why I keep coming back.
The Chicken Katsu Sando ($22) is one of the best Japanese-inspired sandwiches in Toronto: buttery toasted bread, perfectly breaded and crispy chicken katsu made with juicy chicken leg, crispy shoestring fries seasoned with nori, and a refreshing garden salad with sesame dressing. It’s filling, flavour-packed, and worth every dollar.
The Mushroom Spinach Benny ($18) is a standout brunch dish — two English muffins topped with perfectly runny poached eggs, heaps of sautéed mushrooms, a bright yuzu hollandaise, and crispy smashed potatoes. It’s rich, comforting, and one of the best eggs benedict options I’ve had in the city, especially at this price point.
For pasta lovers, the Shrimp Mentaiko Spaghetti ($26) is a must-try if you’re searching for Japanese fusion pasta in Toronto. It’s loaded with tiger shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and nori, and delivers bold flavour while staying creamy without dairy. The Miso Mushroom Spaghetti ($21.50) is incredibly addictive — a perfect balance of creamy, salty, and umami, making it an ideal choice for mushroom lovers and vegetarian-friendly dining.
Portions here are generous, which makes this restaurant great value for money. I always leave full and satisfied. The service is consistently friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall dining experience and makes it feel like a true neighbourhood favourite.
A few things to note: the restaurant is small and cozy, with tight seating and compact tables. If you prefer more space, they also offer an excellent $9.95 takeout deal, making it a great option for affordable takeout in Toronto. The space can feel cold in winter and quite warm in summer, so planning ahead helps.
I highly recommend making reservations during the week and arriving early on weekends. If you’re searching for a popular brunch spot, Japanese fusion restaurant, or value-driven eatery in Toronto, this place is absolutely worth visiting.

The food was delicious, especially the matcha azuki French toast! It’s a small place so seating can be limited and it’s a bit loud.

Finally checked off one of the cafe on our list! The space was a bit smaller than expected and it felt pretty cozy, but once the food came out, it was completely worth it. I ordered the mushroom egg benny and my friend got the salmon, and both dishes were incredibly juicy, rich, and packed with flavor. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and everything tasted so fresh and comforting. Even though it’s a small spot, the food alone makes it worth the wait. Definitely coming back again!

Delicious, party of 9, we arrived early on Sunday to get seating. I felt bad that we took half the restaurant. This place was in demand! So many patrons and delivery pickups and it’s because the food is excellent. Everyone cleared their plates. The drinks are art! Lovely service.
