Very Disappointing Treatment of Vulnerable Customers

We had lunch here today, and while the food itself was good, I was deeply upset by how the restaurant treated a vulnerable customer.
An elderly lady using a walking aid came in to place a takeout order. The cashier, a young lady, was very patient and kind in helping her choose the dishes and complete the payment. After paying, the cashier politely invited the lady to sit down and wait for her food.
However, shortly after, the chef — who I believe may also be the owner — came out and yelled at the elderly lady. He told her she would have to wait over an hour for the food and insisted that she wait outside rather than sit inside the restaurant, even though there were several empty tables available. Today was extremely hot and sunny, yet no chairs, water, or alternatives were offered to accommodate her.
If the preparation time was too long, the owner could have simply suggested dishes that were quicker to prepare or explained the situation politely. Instead, his tone was rude and dismissive — even towards his own cashier.
Food quality aside, this experience left me with a very negative impression. A restaurant isn’t just about serving good dishes; it’s also about showing basic respect and compassion, especially toward elderly or vulnerable people. I hope the management reflects on this and treats future customers with more kindness and dignity.

Ordered three dishes for take out. Food was disappointing at best. It was fast and edible, but would not consider ordering anything again.

My partner and I are quite fond of two dishes from this establishment: the pork and chive dumplings, and the chow mein with soy sauce. Both are exceptionally delicious; I haven't found a better place for dumplings or chow mein. Even my partner's homemade dumplings, though quite good, don't quite compare.

Is it the same thing I ordered?

Quit bad place, don’t waste your time here go somewhere else. I wait 20 mins for my food and the food is disgusting.

Imagine harassing your customers because they didn't tip enough.

Paying cash is enough of an incentive because the business doesn't need to pay interact fees, plus they get to under report their earnings on their taxes. Ungrateful and disrespectful to demand more tip from a customer, they need to learn proper etiquette.

Food is decent though.

Service is fine. Food is quite a nice size with respect to the price. Dumpling and rice noodle roll with dough stick are really good, both in taste and portioning. A good place for casual meal.

Worst as possible, placed an order an hour before still mot ready. Main problem is language. They didn’t understand English they serve faster for Dine in customers. I have placed and order went to buy beer and had beer wait another 30 mins these guys says another 20mins. Hilarious..

No frills restaurant. Food was so good, portion sizes were huge. Very lovely employees. I’ll be coming back again for sure.

We got Steamed Chicken on Rice, and their Congee + Gourmet Dish Combo. The Steamed Chicken on Rice came in great portion, Chicken was tender, paired with Steamed Rice (our only complaint). Pork Liver Congee and Chow Mein with Soya Sauce was AMAZING for the price, the Congee was thick yet smooth, it had an INSANE amount of Pork Liver, paired with Chow Mein that was cooked beautifully and packed Wok Hey, loved it!

They don’t care how long you have ordered and been waiting. Ordered food from an app, it had been shown as ready and I went to pick up. I was told they had the order but not ready yet. That’s fine I can wait a little bit. 20 mins after arrival the restaurant, still not ready. No one care about my order, I had been waiting in the restaurant for around 30 mins (which was 1 hr after I ordered the food on the app) and I asked again. I was told it’s not ready yet (I could get my food few minutes later). Even though I got the food late, the steamed vermicelli roll and fried dough stick were even not warm at all. Totally not happy with the service and food.

AND PLEASE DON’T UPDATE THE STATUS AS “RREADY TO PICK UP”! So the customer doesn’t need to waste half an hour at your restaurant to just wait.

Most affordable and tasting congee in Toronto/GTA. They’re not as fluent in English and speak what seems Cantonese or Mandarin but the woman there is friendly (despite the language barrier I have as a non-Chinese person) and the food is tasting.

They only accept cash or debit, so please keep this in mind, likely allowing for a reduced price (no credit card fees charged to store). They have a parking space, mostly free, after 5pm and I’ve been able to park so far, without being ticketed.

I’ve likely gone more than 10+ times over the last few years. They are unique in opening at 7am and closing at 7pm (ie. opens earlier than any other congee places) and they do close on Tuesday’s.

The beef flat noodles, as pictured, is my favourite dish there but I do find that they’re sold out sometimes when I visit in the evening.

Will def visit again :)
