Had an insanely good lunch here by complete surprise. We picked it because the place we'd intended to go to was unexpectedly closed, and I'm so glad for it - the food was fresh, lovingly made, incredibly flavourful, and generously portioned. Wonderful seafood options that avoid cliche in favour of novel but authentic choices. Loved every bite and got both dessert options too, totally worth it. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Went here recently for dinner with a few Mexican friends. We know our Mexican food.
I'm generally a bit picky with seafood, unless it's super fresh. This place served super fresh, delicious Mexican seafood. I can see why this place is Michelin rated. Also, not sure where the negative reviews regarding the service are coming from. We found the service was excellent. 10/10, A++, would highly recommend.

Food is very good, we are very lucky on Gerrard to have many high quality, innovative and authentic eateries. We were recently in CDMX and the flavors and freshness are as good as the seafood we had there at the open air markets (ie. San Juan and cococayan). Obviously not quite at the level of the famous Contramar restaurant, but you can certainly see that the menu is inspired by them. Prices are very fair for the quality of the food. Service is not particularly attentive. But certainly worth going for the quality of the food alone.

Service was terrible. Ordered two drinks and a few plates to share with our group of 3. Waited 45 minutes and only received one tostada and a glass of water in that time. Did not receive any of the drinks we ordered or other food, yet tables around us finished their entire meals in that time. Finally asked to cancel remainder or order and have bill, not much of an attempt to apologize and seemed like they couldn’t be bothered.

The best Mexican food I’ve had! The seafood birria (instead of a regular beef birria) was phenomenal. Punchy flavours that are complex and perfectly balanced. Hokkaido scallop tiradito was fresh, sweet, and perfect mix of textures. 100% would recommend.

Great neighborhood Gem on Gerrard St. East. Food very good: shrimp tostada; scallops; seafood birria tacos (with excellent broth - our favorite); beef tacos. Quick friendly service, thank you! 💎 🌹 💎 🌹 💎

Was served a taco with a thick wire in it that chipped my two front teeth. The waitress’ response was basically nothing… brought the wire back to the kitchen and then came back out and just kept serving other tables and ignoring us… we had to flag her down to get any follow up which was “the chef says this has never happened before” and then she just walked away again. Some more hospitality and apology would’ve been much appreciated in this situation. They did comp the meal at least but it cost $800 to fix my teeth. Unsure this is a safe kitchen to eat from.

Great food and service. For the moment is one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve tried in Toronto.

Puerto Bravo is a great spot if you love flavorful small dishes, especially tacos. The menu offers a nice variety, and each dish feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The tacos are definitely the highlight—well-seasoned, with delicious fillings and fresh toppings. The atmosphere is casual and lively, making it a fun place to share plates for couples. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes.

Had dinner here this evening. Service wasn’t very attentive nor friendly and tacos weren’t memorable (we had the beef and the shrimp.)
What was memorable was my friend chipping two teeth on a sizeable piece of wire in their taco; even this didn’t motivate much of a reaction from our server nor the chef who sheepishly offered to cover the bill then shrugged off the experience/avoided all contact with us. Didn’t seem like they wanted to admit this came from their kitchen - perhaps I’d be embarrassed too if my carelessness caused a diner a few hours of dental work.
Recommend avoiding, if that wasn’t obvious.

Carne Asada $8.50
One Beef taco. Grilled Beef, Asadero Cheese Onions, Cabbage, Radish, Avocado salsa, Red Salsa. Not bad, pretty good. Though nothing that I wouldn't expect.
Birria marisco $28.00
Slow Cooked Seafood Biria (Fish, Shrimp, Octopus) Asadero Cheese Avocado Salsa, Pickled Onions Leche de Tigre. The leche de tigre is a lime juice base. The tacos are fried and so this combination lightens up the plate. Very good and would recommend.
Wera $16.00
A creamy tostada. Octopus, Shrimp, Macha Mayonnaise, Pico-de Gallo, Guacamole. Pretty good. Good portions.
A small restaurant with seating for about 16+12 patio.
Overall, a bit more expensive, though it's not your typical Mexican dishes.
Worth coming. Would come again.

The food was OK, decent price. But it was soooooo hot. I get that it was a heat wave in Toronto, but it was hotter inside than it was outside. Made for a terrible dining experience - and couldn’t enjoy the food. Also only one wait staff so everything was slow.
Too bad. It’s close by and I really wanted to like it. Wouldn’t come again.

Just excellent. Small. Family operated. Have a margarita. Share some food. Buy the hot sauce to take home.
The seafood birria is one of the best-tasting and most unique combinations of flavours I've ever had. Unbelievably good.
