I had to write this review before too much time passes. This gem of a restaurant was referred to us by our daughter. 1425 Puerto Bravo on Gerrard. It's worth the trip to see what I'm saying. Our entire family are truly foodies. Simply, we don't like the white glove affair, yet we do expect and demand that the food we eat is fresh with flavours that compliment one another. The presentation is inviting. The menu is relatively small but I understand why. I believe the owners ensure their menu choices are spectacular. No, 25 page menu from A to Z. That in itself would make we run for the hills. They specialize in Mexican food. Do we not eat with our eyes first? Automatically, we judge the food that is placed in front of us before we take our first bite. We already have decided if the food is going to be great or not. From the first bite, the tastes of all ingredients compliment one other that bounce around and off your tongue. We had 3 Tacos, Ceviche and a sponge cake dessert, lightly sweet with icing of that was unexpected. A pleasant surprise. We will return again with no doubt in our minds. I will guarantee that you, you will love the food here! I can't forget to compliment our server ~ who was so pleasant and helpful. Bon appetit'.

Let me preface by saying that the food here was great - we really enjoyed the scallops especially.
However, I had to write this review as halfway through our meal a man with a large poorly-trained dog (which was clearly not a service dog - due to its behaviour and lack of 'service vest') came into the restaurant. He was there for 15-20 minutes and sat at the bar with the dog. During this period the dog wandered off leash multiple times around the restaurant - and at one point went into the kitchen. At no point did the staff address this situation, despite other patrons clearly being uncomfortable - and the man did not leave until his order was completed. That is completely unacceptable for any restaurant and is concerning both from a patron and food-safety perspective.

Sunday night, we came early to celebrate a friend’s bday and had the place to ourselves. The food and service were excellent. The cocktails were on point. The guacamole is soooo delicious, the scallops were amazing, the tuna and street corn also fantastic, everything was really tasty and good size portions. We asked for the dessert but they didn’t have it available so a few minutes later the owner came out with a piece of the cake her and her husband had to celebrate their wedding anniversary and put a candle in it for us. It was so thoughtful of them to share it with us, we were very touched. It was a delightful experience. We will definitely be back! Gracias!

Best Mexican food I’ve had in Toronto, and tasty cocktails. Highly recommend the Mezcalita Jamaica cocktail! We had the pescado tacos and they were delicious. The hot sauce is very spicy and flavourful. Our server was lovely. Will definitely be coming back.
