I'll preface by saying that heading into this experience I was highly excited to try Quetzal. The reviews were strong, the Michelin star and reputation of the restaurant. Sadly this has been one of the most overhyped and undervalued dining experience I've ever had. The food was incredibly overpriced and lacked flavour. We were a group of four and vs. trying the tasting menu we chose ala carte dishes off the main menu. The dishes we tried are the empanada, the bone marrow, the shishito/mushroom dish, the rib eye, octopus and al pastor. The empanada had lamb bones in it which was disappointing and lacked flavour. The dishes were really small, such as the rib eye which costs $155 and comes with no sides. We were offered tortillas with the meal which we found out post meal that we got charged extra for. We felt that each course lacked flavour, especially the flavour expected from a Michelin starred restaurant. It's hard to provide any feedback around the food given how expensive this experience is and how high the hype was going in. The service was great and it was the saving grace of the night.

Fantastic service and incredible food! Loved the octopus and the bone marrow and shrimp! Can't wait for the new menu
Newfoundland scallop was out of the world, well done!
Bone marrow and Argentinian shrimp was nothing impressive, and messy to handle. Empadana was also Ok, nothing special.
Coconut Nicuatole was also amazing.
Service was great.

Overall, we were disappointed especially with the service. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful, but I shouldn't have to ask her to remove the sea bream platter from the table once we had served ourselves. She should have served us. My/our expectation is that when we dine in a Michelin restaurant, we should feel pampered. I will pay for that experience, which I have many times. I don't mind if my share is $200 as long as the entire experience feels worthwhile. There are too many restaurants in Toronto that offer that experience (have you gone incognito to 20 Victoria?). Our food experience was delightful although there were 2 shells in my ceviche that felt like shrimp shells. Little bits but not edible.
Quetzal is an incredible restaurant. The chef’s counter and tasting menu is an experience. The highlights for me were the scallops and lamb taco. Highly recommend!!

Amazing gastronomic experience! The service was spectacular. Our server was well versed in all the items from the menu and helped narrow down our choices.
10/10 will be back to try more of the menu items.

We had an amazing dinner at Quetzal. We had the tasting menu with alcohol pairings and we were blown away. So many amazing dishes and drinks! This is definitely a splurge but well worth it.
Absolutely outstanding! From the food to the service everything was 10/10. I would highly recommend the Cookstown Beet dish.
This was by far the best dinner I have had in Toronto, the food was unbelievable, the tenderness the flavors.
Every bite of every dish was an experience of flavor.
We did the curated menu and we told them what we liked and they nailed it.
I went in thinking just get the Octopus and Rib Eye in my mind.
Decided on curated, did not have either of those dishes and was so happy I got to experience everything I did.
Our waiter was perfect, went through the whole menu with us before we decided, which was very helpful.
Also the rest of the staff was very attentive, whenever dish was done someone would take away politely and after a course they would reset table beautifully.
Amazing job, everyone from waiters to cooks should be proud.
100% returning in New Year!

I loved the restaurant, the ambience, the way everything gets delivered in the perfect order. The presentation was phenomenal. The service was amazing. The standout dish was the scallops. The least favorite was the tuna starter. I was hoping that everything was going to be absolutely memorable on all fronts, but there were only a few dishes out of the 6 we chose that didn't live up to the hype. Next time I think I will go with the curated tasting menu. Having said that, the restaurant itself is one of the best presentations I have seen, and I have travelled the world, and seen a lot of great restaurants, so this was a Toronto standout. A one time a year worth it experience. Maybe every other year. Michelin worth it rating.
Lovely experience at Quetzal. We opted for the curated menu and left our fate in the hands of the server.
Standout dishes: mushroom & shishito, Newfoundland scallops, bone marrow & wild Argentinian shrimp, pork secreto al pastor and coconut nicuatole.
The dishes that stayed backstage: tlayuda toloquena, cookstown beet, and the spiced Mexican chocolate. There was one off menu item that incorporated veal but the texture was off-putting.
Service was prompt and well-coordinated. Our plates were regularly changed and our water was refilled constantly. Our reservations were at 9:15pm but we left around 12:15am.

We had a beautiful experience at Quetzal. Not only was the food exquisite, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our table was right infront of the wood burning fire, so it was like dinner with a show. They were perfectly choreographed and each plate went out seamlessly. It was such a nice experience. If you sit in those seats, know you will leave smelling like a campfire and it's totally worth it.
