am an occasional regular when i get to town to see the grandkids ... RLP is a local and friendly spot where a stranger can drop in for a pint or two and immediately feel welcome. and it is right by the Mt Pleasant Cemetery which is one of Toronto's many great urban green spaces.

seems like the closed sign has been up since Feb ... has the place shut down? C'est dommage?!

Incredible food, we especially love ordering the euro burger, nachos with beef chilli, and quesadillas! It’s right in our neighbourhood and they are very fast and responsive for pickup or for in dining. It’s your classic pub feel with a lot of familiar faces! Never disappointed with this spot!

The Red Lantern has officially closed after 55yrs on Merton st.Originally opened by Neilson Shaw in 1969 then David Greig in 1998 to be joined by Joseph Cunjak in 2008 as an operating partner.Due to a combination of a number of Covid-19 setbacks and restrictions plus increased costs , decreased customer flow and now with the untimely death on January 12th of Joseph the Mighty Red says goodbye.Thank you to everyone for a great 55yrs.

I am extremely sad to hear that the red lantern is permanently closed now.I have been coming here for seven years, and have always enjoyed the food/service/and atmosphere. (one point off only because the tap dancing people upstairs, but that's not really your fault!)I have been coming here for lunch every single day for so long now,and would bring my father with me or his friends. Some of them would even drive from 2-3 hours away just because I raved about it so often. The staff were all incredibly nice people.I wouldn't usually get personal on a review, and I know it won't matter writing this since it's closed now,but I feel the owner deserves a last hurrah.I had been feeling extremely low in my life, and coming into the red lantern for my daily pizza and fries combo made my day, that would otherwise be pretty miserable, filled with joy.To all the staff that took the time to talk to me and make me feel more like a fellow friend than customer,i thank you all so much. You guys went above and beyond what your job entailed. To the owner, you made a place feel like a home away from home. You will be greatly missed and appreciated.I hope if you have any further endeavors in the food industry you'll let all of us know, because I for one would definitely stop by.Farewell red lantern pub,you will be greatly missed by the community...The tap dancers, not so much!-From:The girl who was obsessed with your pizzas and fries

Thoroughly enjoyed the Euro burger for dinner! Great food and exceptional service. Our host Billy was on the ball, super attentive and quick. Seriously impressive! Thank you for that :) looking forward to going back to try more on the menu!

Enjoyed my Thursday night dinner and drinks at the Red Lantern Pub! I'd recommend the Stilton burger, and their fries were excellent. Hoping next time they have some craft beers on tap.I think they have events like karaoke on sometimes, will have to check that out as well.

Food is excellent, and the sound level of music is low, so it doesn't disturb
