REIGN Restaurant + Bar + Bakery

I celebrated New Year's at the Fairmont, and the hotel itself was fantastic, offering top-notch service. The next morning, we had breakfast at Reign. Unfortunately, we found a hair in one of our dishes, which was quite off-putting. Although the manager replaced the dish immediately, the incident still made us uncomfortable and hesitant about dining there in the future.

We went to the special New Years event. It is very expensive…$200+ per person with wine. The appetizers were ridiculously tiny…wee pretzel with a smear of caviar, one mushroom in some sauce…the $85 “4 wine pairing” they advertise included small samples of wine, not actual glasses of wine. The steaks were fine, but this event is not worth the money.

Excellent service, swanky yet comfortable, cozy, classic vibe, and delicious drinks. Came for late night drinks. Right next to the Royal York hotel lounge. Recommend.

I visited Reign Restaurant tonight , located in the Fairmont Hotel, and I must say the ambiance and atmosphere were truly remarkable. The decor was elegant, and the overall vibe was welcoming.

However, I was quite disappointed with the service. The waitress was not polite or welcoming, which negatively impacted the overall experience.

I believe the restaurant has great potential, and I hope they can improve their customer service to match the quality of their food and atmosphere.

This restaurant has some great wine options in and signature tasting boards in the menu.

The service was very slow is what I experienced and I tried the Reign Steak Tartare in starter with a white wine followed by Cornish Hen which was really tasty and well done!

Had a very sweet little time here for my birthday! Felt really accommodated and served well. They’ve changed their menu recently, and I had seen venison on the previous one, but it wasn’t available when I went. I loved the butternut squash risotto, it was delicious! The porterhouse was a lot for sharing, but I think sauces should be included instead of being extra. Also, I didn’t realize the kids meal came with fries, so we could’ve picked a different side if we had been reminded. The lobster linguine was a bit overpriced, and the presentation could’ve been better, though the flavor was nice. They made my cocktail free as a birthday treat, which was such a sweet touch! Overall, it was a really great birthday dinner.

Nov2024 Stayed a couple of days at the Fairmont and the holiday seasons were pretty much getting busy so we had a bit of a challenge getting tables at the hotel restaurants without a reservation. What we could get access was the Reign Bar section for two nights.

The menu is compacted version of the main resto. Food was standard small bites with sharing options. The drinks and cocktails were excellent. Loved the lager which was refreshing and slightly light.

Service was exemplary, friendly, helpful and courteous. Our kind vietnamese gentleman server made our night more memorabable.

The ambience of the bar is extremely cozy, intimate, and warm with the fireplace displays as well as the comfortable small dining nooks. Our 2nd night had a pianist in attendance.

Must try the resto if it follows the same standards as the bar.

Wow!! We visited here for Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner and dessert were divine and the service was impeccable. Elizabeth was our server and she was amazing. Very knowledgeable, and kind. We would 100% recommend.

Great menu, well cooked and presented food. Sports bar service, though. Had to wait to get seated, even though they weren't busy, and was then rushed to choose my food. Prices suggest luxury, the setting in the Royal York suggests luxury, but, ultimately, it didn't deliver.

Visited Reign for breakfast after a stay at the Fairmont. First thing we ordered were 2 lattes - $10 each. We were served machine made lattes, similar to what you would get from a basic office coffee machine. They tasted bad.

For $10 I would expect an actual espresso-based latte made by a barista. Based on that first order we paid and left to have real breakfast elsewhere.

Really wish we sat in the bar area. The tables in the dining area were not very nice. We had a great view of the hallway and a family dining with their loud 2 year old right beside the staff staging area.

As for the food, it was very average. And the service was just one step above terrible. When we asked for the bill the server said, ok, no rush. Like??? What??? Had to flag him down again 10 min later. Really weird.

One really expects more from a Fairmont.
