This is a beautiful and bustling restaurant, with absolutely delicious food.
We visited on a Sunday for lunch, and enjoyed the fish cakes, cassava bits and clams to start, and the special bean stew that they have on the weekends, as well as the rump steak. We finished with churros and flan.
Everything was absolutely delicious with one exception - the flan was overly sweet because it was drizzled with honey but this is my personal taste.
Standouts were: the rump steak and clams.
Really lovely service and clearly beloved by local Brazilians.
The restaurant is also beautifully decorated.

I would highly recommend this restaurant and wish them continued success.

Very friendly staff and delicious food. The croquette specials were the best. I always thought it was a fine dining restaurant from the outside but was pleasantly surprised how homey the atmosphere was. Food and drinks was reasonable priced. $10-14 for a cocktail and $35 for picanha

Rio 40 Degrees is easily one of my favourite spots in Toronto. I’ve been a few times with friends, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. Most recently, I went with a friend and we had the feijoada. It’s absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavour, and prepared with so much care.
The service is always friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is lively and warm, and the whole place truly feels like a little piece of Brazil right here in the city. I can’t wait to go back again. Highly recommend!

The food was terrible, I had the Picanha which was served to me completely cold. It was not good. The salad it came with had 0 dressing on it and tasted sandy as if it wasn’t washed. No dressing on the table and for an expensive dish I was surprised the ketchup for my french fries were served in ketchup packets you would find at McDonald’s. The food was not good for anyone at the table and the pricing was super expensive. With these prices, I was expecting something a lot better. Wouldn’t go back or ever recommend this place to anyone.

This was probably one of the first few times I have dined at a Brazilian restaurant (the other being a Brazilian steakhouse), and it was a delightful experience. I came with my Brazilian friend who made the dining experience a level more authentic with her conversing with the waiters and placing our orders in Portuguese.

The food as it came out seemed familiar with it being served with rice and fries, but also unique at the same time with its unique sauce and seasoning blend.

I ordered the Alcatra Ao Molho Gorgonzola ($32). It was not among the best sirloin steaks I have sampled, but its combination with the Gorgonzola sauce makes the meal have its own unique twist. Another dish I was able to enjoy sampling was the Moqueca De Camarao ($29) which was a tiger shrimp stew. The stew was rich and very flavourful.

We were the first group of customers present when we arrived at 6PM on a Friday evening. The place, elegantly furnished, then slowly started to pack up with people as the night went on. The washroom can be reached downstairs through a darkly lit corridor.

It was an overall pleasant dinner with good service.

We had a great dinner at Rio 40! For drinks, we ordered a frozen margarita and a daiquiri — both were really good. For our main dishes, we had the picanha with pineapple and a regular picanha, and everything was absolutely delicious! The meat was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and all the sides — beans, potatoes, salad, and rice — were tasty and complemented the dish really well. The pineapple was juicy, sweet, and just perfect.

The portions are big, so make sure you come hungry or plan to share!

For dessert, we tried a cocada with vanilla ice cream, and it was amazing — the mix of warm cocada with cold ice cream was delicious, and the sweetness was just right.

Service was good, but it could’ve been a bit better — everything took a little long, the food arrived before the drinks, and our water was forgotten until we reminded them.

Still, the food made it totally worth it. Definitely a place I’d go back to! 🇧🇷🥩🍍

I’ve been to Rio 40 several times, and it’s a good restaurant in the St. Clair area for Brazilian food. I usually order the traditional picanha. The portions are generous, and the service is friendly. The menu isn’t particularly interesting, but the classic dishes are prepared properly. It’s not mind blowing, but it’s a comfortable spot for a satisfying meal.
