Our favourite neighbourhood cafe, staff are friendly & consistently good coffee - but it’s off putting to see so many laptops with empty coffee cups when regular people want to enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat and can’t get seats

My office is close to this coffee shop, so I stop by quite often because it’s convenient and I genuinely like their coffee. However, the customer service has consistently disappointed me. I’m not sure if it’s just their general attitude or something else, but the staff often come across as cold and unwelcoming.
I always walk in with a smile and place my order politely, yet I’m usually met with straight faces and very little basic courtesy. It’s not just one employee — I’ve noticed this from several of them over time. Today in particular, the interaction felt especially dismissive, and it honestly left me feeling quite bad.
I hope the management takes this as constructive feedback, because the coffee is great, but the service definitely needs improvement
Rooster Coffee House represents a thoughtful articulation of the contemporary café aesthetic, where the pursuit of exceptional coffeecraft harmonizes with an inviting, gallery-like ambiance. The Corktown location unfolds as a sanctuary for the discerning coffee enthusiast, with carefully curated seating arrangements and an abundance of natural light that transforms the daily ritual of coffee consumption into a meditative experience.
The house espresso foundation demonstrates technical proficiency, with extractions that exhibit equilibrium between caramel sweetness and structured acidity. Their seasonal offerings reveal creative ambition—the ginger and honey latte showcases thoughtful flavor composition, whilst the Americano maintains the purity that epitomizes excellence in coffee preparation. The pastry selection, while moderately diverse, includes offerings of competent construction, though one notes occasionally inconsistent execution in technical finesse.
The staff embodies hospitality of genuine warmth, displaying knowledgeable engagement with their clientele. The restaurant's designation as a workspace-friendly establishment reflects a pragmatic understanding of contemporary urban life, extending hours to accommodate the morning commute and afternoon respite alike. The outdoor seating option, particularly with canine companionship, demonstrates thoughtful inclusivity.
Whilst Rooster Coffee House falls short of the transcendent excellence that characterizes destination-worthy establishments, it achieves a commendable synthesis of quality, atmosphere, and service. It represents a dignified contribution to Toronto's café culture—a place where one may encounter excellent coffee in surroundings that honor both the beverage and the patron's time. This is competent hospitality, executed with understated refinement.

Very pleasant place for coffee. We were a large group and we felt comfortable. Delicious coffee and nice range of muffins and pastries to choose from... for those with a sweet tooth like me.

Quaint unique coffee shop. People tend to linger as customers, but the food was good and the service was great.

A nice coffee shop with a couple different seating arrangements like a living room setup, a working high table and another seating area. Prices are reasonable, staff are friendly, and the vibe is nice here. Great place to work.

I’ve come here a handful of times and the rude baristas never seem to disappoint. You’re better off going to the Starbucks around the corner—more welcoming staff. Also it seems like I’m not the only one? Check the low reviews in this place

I was there working and saw a customer politely ask about holding her little dog while getting her coffee to-go. The worker reacted by raising his voice, which felt a bit intense and unnecessary for the situation.
It just stood out for me because the vibe here is normally really friendly and nice. I hope the staff can handle situations like this more calmly in the future.
