We rented “the snug” for our casual engagement party. From initial contact with their event coordinator, Jess, to the whole team that served us on the night, everyone was amazing. Jess was super responsive and even sourced us Cava to serve, instead of prosecco (my finaće is picky). Alex was in charge of us on the actual day of the event, with her team, and everyone was super friendly, kind and fun. We had an absolutely fantastic time, and would highly recommend this event space and their team to anyone. Thankyou all so much for making the night run so smooth and easy. We appreciate you!!!

I really liked this place and made here twice on my 3 night stay in the city. Staff are really friendly and food was really tasty with great choice of drinks. I ordered the curry which was super warming and comforting on january day of -21° toronto 😍

Great little pub, especially if you’re an Arsenal fan — they show Arsenal matches and even reduce a few prices during the games, which is a nice bonus. The place was pretty quiet when I visited and the server was working alone, but he was incredibly attentive and friendly throughout. As I was wearing my Arsenal jersey, he even offered me my first beer on the house, which was a really nice touch.

The food menu looked appealing, and we ordered fries and wings. The wings weren’t the best, but the fries were excellent, especially with the curry mayonnaise sauce — absolutely delicious.

Overall, the vibe of the pub is very cosy and welcoming, and it was the perfect spot to warm up on a cold, snowy day. I’d definitely come back, especially for a match.

Food is ok, service is good, atmosphere is somewhat brash (mostly due to the clientèle drawn in by sports games played on the TVs). Guinness is pretty solid tbf but that’s borderline it. One thing I would add is there needs to be a ventilation upgrade as the smell from the kitchen fans is overpowering and lingers on your clothes.

The service was quite okay. For being a pub they did a very bad job at pouring beer. The music was also very loud

St. John's Tavern presents itself as a cool and trendy spot, and overall, we enjoyed our dinner visit. The steak was expertly prepared and delicious, ensuring a positive dining experience. However, the specific seating area we were assigned (the back right) was notably dark. While we appreciate attempts at ambience, the lighting level bordered on being too dim, making it difficult to fully enjoy the setting. A subtle addition, perhaps some table candles, would significantly enhance the atmosphere in that section without sacrificing its character.

Great pub to visit. French onion soup, scones and Guiness are a great cold weather lunch combo.

it is overwhelmingly loud and lively in there BUT OH MY GOODNESS I DID NOT EXPECT ALL THE FOOD TO BE SO DELICIOUS AND PERFECTLY MADE.

the cheddar biscuits were absolute perfectionNNNNN. they were hot and fresh, with a super fluffy, soft, and moist interior and a perfectly golden crusted crunchy exterior. the garlic butter was creamy and whipped, and it was slightly salty, with the garlic flavour being light, subtle, and not too overpowering at all. i also loved how the biscuits had that slight baked dough aroma — absolutely ADDICTING.

the fish and chips were also INCREDIBLE, it is exactly how fish and chips should always taste like. i actually can’t get over how perfectly and freshly the fish was fried, with the outside SO crispy and the inside just STEAMING and JUICY and HOT and immaculate. the fish itself also just tasted so good and wasn’t overly “fishy” tasting, BUT DIPPING IT AND THAT GOLDEN FRY INSIDE OF THE SUPER TANGY TARTAR SAUCE was just divine !!! the fries, thick and potato-y and some with a nice crisp, and the mushy peas (healthy tasting!) were also great accompaniments.

The place looks cool but looks can only get you so far. I got the Spice Bag Fries and they need to take that off the menu. It’s awful what’s even the point of calling it a spice bag. They give you a spits worth of curry sauce that tastes more like gravy, it said it comes loaded with peppers and onions but i’ve yet to even still see one. I wish the server asked me how the food was so i could tell her it sucked. I had to go and just find a table because standing at the door for more than 5 min doesn’t make you seem like you’re interested in dinning in i guess. My mate picked up the steak frites and should be called frites and stake since it looked to be a 2 ounce piece of beef and a pound of chips. Pints of Guinness were sub pardon a $12 pint. Poopoo food
