Wow… just wow. This place is a total gem! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was awesome — cozy, friendly, and full of good energy. And the food? Absolutely next-level. Every bite was bursting with flavor (pretty sure I happy-danced at the table more than once).
Every dish was packed with flavor, but the star of the show (if I had to pick one) was hands down the Iga Bakar. Tender, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious — honestly, it deserves its own standing ovation.
If you’ve never tried Indonesian food before, prepare for your taste buds to throw a party. If you *have* tried it before, this place will ruin you for anywhere else — it’s THAT good. Already plotting my next visit, and I might just bring stretchy pants.

Small cosy restaurant that we came across on Danforth. It was one of few halal restaurants in the area so we wanted to check it out. Good food but I thought it was a little overpriced for the quantity and quality. The drink was definitely overpriced. The staff were nice though.
Overall it was good place to sit and dine but not a place I would go out of my way to visit. If I happen to be in the area and wanted to try Indonesian food again I'd come.

Amazing Indonesian food in Toronto!
Sambal Toronto never disappoints — everything tastes authentic and full of flavor. The Iga Bakar (grilled beef ribs) and Rendang are absolute must-tries! The meat is super tender and the spices are perfectly balanced. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make it even better. Highly recommend for anyone craving real Indonesian comfort food!

Pictured: bakmi ayam, nasi goreng and nasi uduk Jakarta. All were very flavourful and tasty. We also shared the sate ayam which was perfect. Service was excellent. Would definitely come back.

Absolutely fantastic experience! Every dish was a hit, especially the rendang, which was incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. It truly tasted like home. The restaurant's ambiance and service were amazing! Definitely worth the visit.

My friends and I arrived at the restaurant and were told the wait would be about 45 minutes to an hour. We agreed and put our name down. After waiting a full hour, we went back to check for an update and were told that a reservation at 8:30 pm would be prioritized before us.
That would’ve been fine if we were told that from the start, but the first server never mentioned it. We ended up wasting an hour waiting for a table we were never going to get soon. When we brought this up, the staff simply shrugged and said “sorry.”
It was disappointing and felt unprofessional. Even if the food is amazing, poor communication and bad customer service ruin the entire experience. Sambal management, please do better and respect people’s time. Be transparent.
