Had dinner there on Monday December 22, 2025. It wasn’t busy at 5:30pm. It has nice interior design, cocktails were good. Our dinner (steak, kid mac and cheese, duck breast and gnocchi) were less than average.

This review is more like a 3 star review but I bumped up due to the service and the quality of the cooking and ingredients.
Came here for brunch and while pricing was on par with other brunch spots, I was a bit disappointed that there weren’t more unique dish options to choose from.
Our server Erwin was friendly and topped up our tea and coffee quickly.
The salad in the eggs Benedict was too vinegary for my liking. But everything else tasted great.
What also turned me off a bit was the fact that the bathrooms used napkins as paper towels. You’d think for a nicer spot in Yorkville that they’d have paper towels but they just had stacks of napkins to wipe your hands. Kind of odd.
All in all, wouldn’t come back for brunch as you can get better brunch elsewhere. But would be interested to try dinner here.

The service was amazing, attentive, professional, and warm without ever feeling rushed. Every detail felt thoughtful and intentional.
The drinks were exceptional, perfectly crafted and balanced. The steak was a solid 5/5, cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with rich, flavorful mushrooms. The truffle fries were outstanding (another 5/5), crisp and indulgent, and the salad was fresh, well-balanced, and equally deserving of a 5.
From the classy presentation to the quality of the food and service, Sassafras delivers an elevated dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet, sophisticated place with excellent cuisine and attention to detail.

Absolutely recommend this restaurant! I have never had a bad meal here; the food is consistently delicious—I especially enjoyed the salmon, duck, and beef tartare. The service is always attentive and top-notch. A special shoutout to Rohan, the barman, who is fantastic at engaging with clients and making the experience great. A must-visit!

Portions were small-eggs benedict with peameal and the meat was paper thin. The salad was a messy pile (small) of undressed greens. The orange juice was sour.

Sassafraz is my favourite Yorkville restaurant and I invariably take my out of town friends there to enjoy a delicious meal and great service in a relatively quiet environment. The kitchen and staff all lived up to my expectations. Thanks to everyone, including our waiter Derek, for making it a lovely, leisurely evening with dear friends. You will remain my favourite restaurant to demonstrate the high quality of Toronto's dining experience to out-of-town guests.
