I’m not sure I can justify spending 20 bucks on just a sandwich of this calibre, somehow more cream cheese than salmon, not even a warm or soft bagel. Not sure where the metric is on the other reviews of this spot, but maybe the struggle is that high for finding value in this area. Might give the pastrami a try next time to see if it can redeem this sandwich shop. The cream cheese nor the salmon have a ton of distinct taste.
I wish I could leave a better review but unfortunately I’ve had more than one bad experience with food quality. Yes, the bagels themselves are fresh and delicious, the service in the shop is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and nostalgic however, I’ve had a couple bad experiences regarding food safety/quality both in person and on Uber Eats and feel compelled to share. On one occasion when ordering on uber eats, the egg salad tasted truly rancid. I called the restaurant...
My girlfriend and I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon at Schmaltz. She had been here before and wanted to bring me for some fresh bagel sandwiches. They did not disappoint. The shop is tucked around the corner of Dupont and Howland. The bagel shop itself is pretty small but the owners have some good things going on in here!

My girlfriend made her own sandwich with Novalox, cucumbers, scallion cream cheese on a sesame bagel. She had no notes for her sandwich....
