School Restaurant has such a unique and creative layout — it really lives up to its name in the best way possible. The atmosphere is fun and a bit nostalgic, but still classy enough for a night out. The food is great — everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully made. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a great spot for a date

THE POUTINE!!! was hands down the best, but almost equally enjoyed the Krispy French toast. The latte I had also delicious!
There was paid parking across the street. Loved the laid-back atmosphere.

This was my second time at School having been for brunch several years ago. Now I recall why I never went back. I went in the evening before a concert entirely because everywhere else in Liberty Village was booked. Firstly, the good points - because there is always a good point. The server, although rushed off his feet (I think he was the only one there) was courteous and friendly. The patio was pretty standard, but nice to sit outside, especially in early October.
I had the grilled cheese sandwich and fries for $22. The fries were overcooked - with a few burned and the grilled cheese was really average. $22 seemed extremely steep for a cheese sandwich and fries. It was $21 for a large glass of Rose, which tasted really average. My fault for not looking at the prices before I ordered. Overall it was just short of $100 for a grilled cheese sandwich, fries, two glasses of wine and a beer with tax and tip. I know prices have gone up in restaurants everywhere but *yikes* - a large glass of house wine at the fancy wine bar near me is generally $18-20 and its good wine.
A couple of people told me to get the pancakes, with rave reviews which in retrospect, I deeply regret not doing but it was 8pm on a Friday so I didn't really fancy it.

Horrible Service! I used to love going there! The worst hostess I have ever seen in Toronto. Leave us waiting standing, with my dad using a walking cane to seat us more than 10 minutes, after calling us to sit down, asking for a Splenda that she never brought back to the table. Sad to see such a nice place became that deteoriorated for poor service. I bet if Google reviews the average score for the last 6 months, the rating would be 2.5 stars. Go to Mildreds or to OEB when Liberty Village. Food was ok.

First time here and expectations were met and blown away.
The environment, the staff and of course the food surpassed my thoughts.
The hosts/serving staff get the first nod of approval for their quick service, accomodating nature and their great vibe. Thx for that
The open air atmosphere caters to a patron desiring a seaside cafe. The weather for october is out of this world and being seated in this alive atmosphere was second to none...love the buzz!
Last but not least, the chefs...my oh my. The chefs' attn to detail, the flavours brought out in each dish were spectacular; and for this we were most appreciative🫡
Continue knocking it out of the park SCHOOL team...ill be back when im skipping
To those who haven't been, go.

Food is okay. Service is horrible, feels like you’re begging to be served. Staff is rude and condescending to a level that all 5 friends who were there to celebrate my birthday did not tip because of the treatment from the server. Mind you, we were all servers, and none of us were ever rude to that degree even in our worst days. Would not recommend.

It’s unfortunate because I love this place but EVERY single time I’ve come the service sucks. The servers are never friendly, never polite and make you feel like you’re inconveniencing them. They hardly ever come back to your table after you’ve order and it’s disheartening. This is also every server I’ve ever had, and I’ve never had the same person twice so that should tell you a lot. With better training I think this could go back to a 5 star but in this economy nobody wants to spend their money when they feel like they are not being treated well.

Love this place. Whatever family or friends are visiting from outside of the city and we always take them here! A Toronto gem.

The blonde host with curly hair is extremely rude and condescending. She’s not accommodating at all, she doesn’t seem to have the ability to handle stress what so ever and I think you need to have a serious conversation with her cause her attitude is absolutely horrendous and unacceptable. I can’t believe they let people with an attitude like hers work in the service industry. I’d much rather have an incompetent but kind worker rather than the opposite. Unfortunately for this place, she’s both incompetent and rude!
Shame really, otherwise we would’ve had a great experience but she ruined it all.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is beautiful, and the presentation of the food is impressive. Unfortunately, the taste didn’t live up to the visuals, and the service was disappointing. Our server never asked how we liked our drinks or food and did not check in on our table. Because of this, I wouldn’t return. The only item I would recommend are the pancakes, which were the highlight of the meal.

Food was good but the service was lacking. It was not busy at all when we came on a Friday early afternoon but we waited 3 minutes to be acknowledged at the hostess stand even after the hostess and another server made eye contact with us. From there, we waited another 20 mins to order, and we saw our server only once in between so our plates were piled up.
There were also lots of flies and crawlies around. It was an ok experience overall. I used to come here all the time but I can see the difference in quality of service
