First ever omakase experience and it did not disappoint. Favourite part was most definitely the sushi round which served individual pieces at a time to patrons. Each sushi was unique to its own with specific ingredients procured from different regions of the world. Time passed by too quickly as I could’ve eaten more. Given the process of serving food, dining etiquette was at first confusing for a first time noob like myself but I quickly adapted to the experienced patrons near me. The staff here is also exceptionally kind as my wife mentioned it was my birthday and the chef presented me an extra piece of sushi with a candle. Turns out you can also let them know ahead of time and they’ll generously prepare a piece of birthday cake. All in all it was a great experience and a definite recommendation for sushi lovers and foodies alike.

Affordable omakase in Toronto. The chef explains what you’re eating and even where it is sourced from. Pleasant experience, took about 1 hour for 16 courses. Chef is super friendly and humble. Highly recommend!

Best omakase and wine pairing experience we’ve had so far! The chef and waitress provided friendly and excellent service.Similar to all the previous reviewers, this is the best value omakase. For a guaranteed great date night, this is the spot!

This was my first omakase and definitely one to remember. I really loved trying all the different fishes that I’d normally wouldn’t go for. They started on time so make sure you’re there early or it might take a while as it was taking quite a while for them to bring items to the table side. There was definitely a lot sushi so in my opinion it is a great bang for your buck. It was a really small intimate spot so it felt quite cozy . My favourites were the otoro and the taro ice cream I would’ve came back just for the ice cream if they sold it separately!!

Lovely jazz music and more modern omakase and is amazing for the price. You get 2 appetizers, 12 pieces of nigiri, a hand roll, soup and ice cream. All the fish were fresh and a la carte is available

My wife and I had dinner at Shunoko to celebrate our first anniversary and it was a truly memorable experience. Our waiter and the chefs made us feel welcome as soon as we entered and despite the strong recommendation to be seated at the sushi bar, we chose a table for the omakase for a more intimate celebration and they were happy to accommodate. The omakase experience was absolutely incredible. Each course was given an introduction to ensure we were familiar with what we were about to enjoy, and the quality of the fish and ingredients was top notch. Some pieces melted in our mouths, with the chefs allowing the natural flavor of the fish to shine through, while others had an accompaniment (garlic, or truffle for example) that allowed us to enjoy an explosion of flavor, but balanced in such a way that doesn't mask the fish. The chefs carefully planned the experience and orchestrated the ordering of course like a masterful conductor guiding a symphony of flavors. On top of the fantastic meal I couldn't possibly say anything better about, the chefs and waiter were thoughtful enough to treat us to an extra course of BBQ eel that came with a candle as a celebration of our anniversary and it was truly appreciated. It started to get a bit busy prior to us finishing dinner, so we quickly departed after finishing our meal and I regret not taking a moment to show my appreciation for the experience the chefs and our waiter have clearly put a lot of thought and passion into, so if you see this, my wife and I couldn't thank you enough for the amazing meal, thank you! ❤️

Shunoko is the next best thing for omakase in Toronto. I hate to say it but Shunoko can raise their price from $100 to $130 a head and they will still see me eagerly making reservations for their incredible omakase; for now, $100 for what they offer is simply a steal.Shunoko offers simple quality ingredients and expertly crafted nigiri. We start with a sample of sashimi, each one offering unique flavours that highlight the quality of the individual fish. Then a tuna tartare with puffed rice served on nori. After these appetizers comes 12 nigiri, most notable pieces are the kanpachi, botan ebi and the otoro, but honestly each piece shined in its own way. Finishing the meal off we have a small veggie handroll and a fish miso broth, ending with a taro ice cream that really emphasizes the taro. We also got a bonus kanpachi at the end and an unagi for the birthday folks.Wine pairing was also available for a measly $34 dollars for a tall pour of riesling to start, and a smaller pour of 3 other distinct white wines. The wine tasting (not pictured) was not bad but I would probably enjoy a sake pairing instead. As per any omakase, the bar seat is the best way to experience the restaurant ambiance and the chef's work. Make a reservation and you won't be disappointed.

It's restaurants like Shunoko that remind me how truly amazing the Toronto food scene is! Without flying to Japan, we can have a top notch omakase menu. We sat at the bar in front of the chefs. In my opinion the bar offers the best seats of the house. Our chef was so friendly and he made the experience special for us.

It was my second time Omakase with my husband. I found four fishbones from one piece of sushi. We’ve tried few omakase places in Toronto but never experienced fishbones. I was very disappointed by the owner’s attitude. There was no apology, he didn’t even come to our table. The server just brought us a free sashimi plate.I was so satisfied with the first omakase that I returned with my husband. While eating, I was very surprised to see four thorns coming out of one piece of sushi. It looks small in the picture, but it was a very thick thorn and it pierced my gums, causing it to bleed. It could be really dangerous if a child swallowed it. When I told the server, there was no apology and he didn't seem surprised. After a while, he brought me a free sashimi plate, saying it was the chef's service. I had already lost my appetite, so I gave in to my husband, and what we wanted was not a free service, but an apology. I paid $300, including tip, and the chef didn't even look at me until then, which was very disappointing.
