Visited this cute shop with my grudge. Although the drinks were mediocre, our food wasn’t good. My friend got a breakfast sandwich and I got a pastry and it was cold on the inside despite being warmed up.
Wonderful oat flat white and earl grey scone. Not too crowded on a Saturday morning though there was a line.
Edits made after owner’s response:
I have lived in a nearby building since 2021 and have seen the staffing of Shy for years, including barista turnover, coffee brewing quality from season to season, year to year. I love Shy Coffee as an independent business, and truly want it to succeed, even if solely for the selfish reason of it being my neighbourhood spot! That being said, with all my time as a local, and having seen the staffing trends over the years, I stand by my review and observations. I think my review jump started healthier staffing from my latest visit!

The way they understaff this busy little coffee shop is criminal. Waited 30 minutes for 2 lattes and done pastries with a 10 customer strong line on a Saturday morning. The poor barista must’ve made 20-25 cups before my order all by himself.
Love this place!!!
Everytime I drop off film next door I make sure to stop by as it’s one of the only places that has some Czech bakery, which is where I’m from! Food brings me back to my hometown for a little bit and the coffee is delicious!
Best service, best coffee, nice atmosphere… a gem in this neighbourhood!
The matcha latte tastes lighter than i thought. Would be nice a bit hotter
I love their coffee but this is the SECOND time now where i ordered a latte with whole milk and I got an oat milk latte instead. Please be more careful as oat milk is not good for me (by the time i realized i was already back in my car).
I love this place!!
Best coffee in Toronto! Tried today their new Coconut americano drink and it was perfect!
Friendly staff, small interior, warm for reading :)

I was in the area and I wanted a coffee really bad and the only coffee I know that’s in the area is Tim Hortons. I felt like trying something new and oh boy, was it worth it. I got the lavender latte and a scorn. it’s amazing. The latte isn’t too sweet. #Delish def coming back. #supportlocalbusiness <3

Such a beautiful coffee shop! We got strawberry matcha lattes and an almond croissant. Pricing is so fair (especially in Toronto). We did find the service unwelcoming but understand that it could’ve just been overwhelming for the barista on a Sunday morning. We would still come back!
The staff was very nice and the coffee was super good
