very disappointing service , after tasting a cocktail and wanting to return it, was denied . Not a top class restaurant.

Last night I introduced a friend to our “Rosedale Bistro” and she was blown away. Food and service consistently good

Disappointing Anniversary Experience – Never Again We booked our table over 10 days in advance and specifically requested a window seat for our anniversary, which was noted in the reservation. Despite all time slots being available at the time of booking, we were not given a window seat, and the staff tried to brush it off. The atmosphere was extremely uncomfortable – cramped space, noisy, and chaotic. We couldn't even hear each other talk. We were eventually moved to a slightly quieter spot, but even there, the seating was awkward – I had to move the entire table just to get to the washroom! The service was subpar. The server tried to lighten the mood by saying Obama had once sat there, which felt forced. On top of that, the server opened the wine and gave it to me (the man) to taste, ignoring my partner – something I've never experienced before in any fine dining restaurant. Food was equally disappointing. The appetizer was just average. For the mains, we ordered two types of steak – the tenderloin and hanger steak – and both were bland, poorly seasoned, and below even average expectations. For a supposedly high-end restaurant, this was unacceptable. Overall: No window seat despite request Crowded and noisy environment Poor service Bad food with no flavor Overpriced for what was offered This was supposed to be a special night, but it ended up being a huge letdown. First time and definitely the last. A truly bad memory for our anniversary.

So fabulous, can't wait to go back soon! Gorgeous food, interior and overall feeling. Nancy Meyers would love it.

One of my favorite restaurants in Toronto for sure. Hands down best bread pudding I've ever had, the steak tartare was to die for. The smokiness and satiety was the highlight of the night for me. Incredible cocktail selection and wine list, with entrees and sides to fill any meal needs.

Went back after 3 years, food is as good as I remember it to be. One of the most delicious meals I have had in the city. Highly recommend the tartare, duck confit and crème brûlée.

Sorrel Toronto is always one of my wishlist to try. It is busy all the time, and suggest book reservation at least few days ahead especially weekend. We sat down quickly and ordered shrimp cocktail to start, follow by Bouillabaisse and features of the night (Jumbo prawns risotto). To be honest, they are taste good, but the risotto is a bit smaller portion. The cocktail shrimp is a good size black tiger shrimp, but the cocktail sauce is not the best. I believe they homemade the sauce, but not my favorite. Overall good experience, good pricing and great quality of food!

I didn't get the experience I was waiting for.
I love the grill calamari... I was hopping to have more a french menu but, that night was mainly pasta, pizza or fish.
My partner enjoyed his Tagliatelle, I had mushroom soup but had to much pepper.
Dessert was fine.

Washrooms smell really bad

Our visit to Sorrel was a fantastic dining experience for our party of three. We started with the Arugula Salad and Deep-Fried Calamari, both fresh and flavorful.

For mains, the Salmon Steak was perfectly cooked, the Bouillabaisse was rich and packed with large scallops and fish, and the Duck Confit was tender and delicious. Every dish was thoroughly enjoyed, and the service was excellent—attentive and welcoming.

A couple of minor notes: the butter served with the bread could be more generous—these small indulgence makes a difference in creating a luxurious dining experience., and improved acoustics in the dining room would elevate the atmosphere and allow for easier conversation.

Overall, Sorrel impressed us with its food and service. Highly recommended, and we look forward to returning!

Poor value for money. Pasta perfectly cooked but bland, main and dessert standard. Did not appreciate the pressure to leave within a minute of next reservation despite having ordered the uber had a substantial bill. I prefer to dine with friends according to our natural timeline, not the restaurants’s desire to get in another reservation. No compelling readon to come back.

I made a dinner reservation for 6 people at Sorrel on Open Table. By the day of the reservation, unfortunately 4 of my dinner companions had cancelled on me. Shortly after I received the fourth cancellation (at just after 1), I called and left a message apologizing for the late cancellation, and asking for a call back if the restaurant was not willing to waive my cancellation fee ($50/head). Shortly after 5 (4 hours later, and after I had started making dinner for my kids, assuming all was well) I received a call back from the restaurant, advising me that I would be charged for half of the cancellation fee, or $150. I was frustrated, and couldn’t afford to just lose $150, so I told the woman on the phone I would find two people to join me, even though it was late, and I was annoyed. She then told me that if I came, I would need to sit at the bar. I expressed frustration at how disingenuous it was for her to refuse to waive the cancellation fee, in circumstances where it was clear she was going to be able to fill my table. She then agreed to waive the cancellation fee, and said she felt it would be better if I didn’t come in to the restaurant. I agreed. About 5 minutes later, someone else from the restaurant called me back, and told me I was going to be charged the entire $300 cancellation fee. I told the restaurant to expect me with whomever I could agree to join me on such short notice, and asked that the reservation be changed to 3 people (I knew at the very least, my 2 kids could join me). I then drove half an hour to the restaurant, and ate my meal, in spite of what were uncomfortable circumstances. The restaurant was packed. In the section I was in, which comprised a large part of the (relatively large) restaurant, there were no (or very few) empty tables. I understand the purpose of a cancellation fee. I understand cancelling a 6 person table at lunchtime the day of is hard for restaurants to deal with (although Sorrel is a big, busy restaurant), and I understand the restaurant was entitled to charge me the full $300. But the way I was treated by the restaurant was unnecessary, unkind, disingenuous and, at the end of the day, petty.

I saw a lot of reviews saying it was a date spot, and as they said, the atmosphere was really nice and cozy, so I was able to see a lot of couples and families who came for dates. But I wonder if it's delicious enough to pay this money... The appetizers were delicious, but the pasta was very ordinary.
