potato waffles are my favourite breakfast ever
Giant waffle breakfast. Definitely filling and enjoyed the vegan options! My avocado waffle sandwich was so big I removed the top and ate it like an open-faced sandwich, then I asked for maple syrup and ate the top waffle portion on its own as dessert. Like two meals in one! Definitely appreciated they had vegan and gluten-free waffle batters!

Oh my goodness, what a lovely breakfast spot! We came with trepidation on a Sunday around 11, fearing a fearsome crowd, but were seated easily. The restaurant was bright with natural light and warm on a cold winter day. Service was prompt and pleasant. And the food!! My companion had waffles with fruit and I had waffles with salmon. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. Even in the dead of winter the fruit was fresh and tasty. The coffee was marvelous.

I admit, I didn’t mean to go here! I was looking for Boom Breakfast as that was the place I’d found via Google maps as a good breakfast option close to my Airbnb. It wasn’t until I’d walked in and sat down that I realised I was in the wrong place.
However, everything looked good and I’d received a warm welcome so I decided to stay. I have no regrets.
The menu was good. It was difficult to choose what to have. I decided on the BEA waffles (bacon, egg & avo) and a vanilla almond latte. What was nice is when I explained I don’t like soft runny eggs, the waitress gave me the option to have my egg poached hard. For her, it was no biggie but for me who usually stays away from poached eggs always assuming it’s going to runny, it was a really nice touch.

Underwhelming. That’s really what this all boils down to. It’s kind of got a greasy spoon vibe, but without the cheaper prices and quick service.
Instead service for 2 took over half an hour for an omelette and waffles when the restaurant was half full.
Prices would be fair if the food was better. The waffles were heavily undercooked and battery in the center. Hollandaise sauce was broken and oily. I was a little shocked at how little juice is served for $4, especially considering it comes out of a box.
Anyways, all this to say this isn’t the great breakfast/brunch spot people hype it up to be. It’s lack lustre and resting on an old reputation of being good, only it’s lost everything that made it good to begin with. 10 years ago, sure. Today, it’s a hard pass.

We had a great brunch here. Gluten free waffles for my friend (veggie sandwich) and eggs benny for me. Eggs were perfect and the hollandaise sauce was superior to many. I’d definitely recommend.
Cash or debit
No reservations though unless you’re a party of 6! So you might need to line up.
But they know how to do brunch
It’s a bit loud but I find most places are loud these days. Service was good.
If you’re near one, give it a try. I know they have several locations.

Recommended by my cousin, who was more familiar with Toronto than I was at the time. An overall cute restaurant with a small community vibe, this was quite a fun trip to take from the downtown core.
While I wouldn't say what I ordered would have been my choice (the one with Bacon), this was my cousin's favourite, and it was overall delicious. The next time I am in Toronto, I will have to check out the restaurant again to try something more of my taste.

They closed early because they weren’t getting enough customers even though I called an hour before coming and explicitly asked if they’d be open when I arrived. Wasted a whole trip, waste of time.
