Sushi California is definitely my go-to spot for sushi! The place itself is quite small for how popular it is, and to be honest, it’s not the most attractive restaurant inside or outside. It’s always full when I go. But honestly, it’s absolutely worth it because the food is just that good!
The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and everything tastes fresh and delicious. I usually start by sharing the fried shrimps—they’re big, crispy, and super tasty. For rolls, my absolute favorite is the Double Dynamite Roll (I order it every single time!). I also really enjoy the Green Dragon Roll, and I’ve tried both the Malibu Roll and the Cowboy Roll, which are also delicious.
All of their sushi rolls are flavorful, original, and different. This spot never disappoints—it’s always my go-to sushi place!

For the price, this is a great option for friends and group. The sushi / food tastes good and basic good quality for sushi but it’s definitely not the best or one of those sushi spots which really yummy and nice quality ingredients. The aesthetic and vibe is cute and simple but not very spacious and usually always very busy, I usually order this for takeout as it’s close to home. Service it’s always very straightforward and nice but nothing crazy. I would recommend this as a quick stop in with one or two friends and or a casual date night. Better to come in the day and avoid weekends unless you call ahead to check for the wait, that includes takeout and dine in.
My favs: Crunch roll, Dynamite roll with spicy mayo, green dragon roll, Chicken Yaki Udon, Miso soup (they pulled a shrinkflation and got smaller containers now but at least it’s yummy and only like $1.

The food is amazing. The atmosphere also involves you, I love the private booths. I can only complain about the costumer service that we received last time we were there, the servers were hard to find, we also had a really noisy table beside.

The sashimi was incredibly fresh, practically swimming from the ocean onto my plate. And the rolls? Oh, the rolls! They were so absurdly generous, you might think they'd had a growth spurt – prepare for a delightful challenge, perhaps even requiring a two-hand grip! My friend, who actually owns a sushi restaurant back in Montana, was equally floored, genuinely questioning how they manage to sell such fantastic sushi at these prices. It was quite a spectacle watching him try to decipher their secret.
The place itself was buzzing with energy, packed with a diverse crowd of patrons from all walks of life, including many fellow Asians, which is always a good sign. The vibrant atmosphere just added to the experience.
A quick tip for your visit: Parking can be found affordably on nearby streets or at the 91 Via Italia parking lot.
All in all, it was a thoroughly satisfying meal that left both my taste buds and my wallet surprisingly happy. If you're looking for an incredible sushi experience that punches way above its weight class, Sushi California is definitely where it's at!
