This restaurant impressed me with its creativity. The fall-inspired appetizer plate showed how thoughtful and inventive the chef is with seasonal ingredients. The fig paired with monkfish liver in a crisp monaka, and the persimmon and shrimp in a silky tofu sauce, both gentle yet memorable. It is so rare to find this level of imagination in Japanese cuisine here, and the warm, fun chef made the experience even more enjoyable. I will definitely come back to see what chef Yuta can offer with winter ingredients!

I’m so glad I found such a great sushi restaurant here in Toronto. I’ve had sushi before, but this was on a whole different level! My favourite was uni squid and otoro that literally melted in my mouth😩

An unforgettable omakase experience at Sushi Kiwami with Chef Yuta Arase!
My arrival at Sushi Kiwami had me amazed with the tranquility and the sophisticated yet simple woody interior, warm lights, spotless dining area, and perfect details that almost made it seem like it was transported straight from Japan .
In my opinion Chef Yuta Arase is the epitome of culinary mastery. Precision, creativity, and real love for the art of cooking were the qualities present in each dish. The flavor balance, texture, and styling were flawless as well - from the taste layered appetizers to the sushi that melted in your mouth. Quality and technique were the two elements that became evident in every single bite.
The enthusiasm of Chef Yuta can be felt in every serving that goes out and his calm, funny, and attentive demeanor made the meal more intimate. The staff were very considerate, and everything went smoothly from the beginning up to the end of the meal.
If you are looking for an excellent omakase experience at an intimate and authentic place, Sushi Kiwami should be your first choice.
Absolutely recommended. Thank you, Chef Yuta, for an unforgettable night.

$159 lunch omakase. 10 tasting sushi which are very good. The only comment is no sake/wine pairing. If they could add it in the menu, that would be great!

One of my favourite omakase in Toronto!!! Sushi Kiwami really does live up to the hype in a lot of ways — the ingredients are top-notch, the technique is impressive, and everything is presented with so much care and precision. It definitely feels like a special experience, especially if you're into the ritual and detail that comes with high-end omakase.
