High quality proteins/seafoods also with amazing grilling service by servers. Good place to have dates or celebrations with friends or family. The restaurant doesn’t have many tables so it’s important to make a reservation before you go.

Service is top notch, the server grilled the meat for us
Feels like a princess to go to this bbq place. Selection of wine is incredible. Good quality meat. Put 4 star because the seafood pancake is very greasy. I was expecting more from the price point, but the pancake is greasier even compared to a cheap Korean bbq joint. Not only that, they also put Uni on top of that greasy pancake, for a high end place I'm a bit disappointed on whoever make that decision. You pretty much killed the uni taste by doing that, all I can taste is your frying oil. It just make the food look pretentious but the taste doesn't match with the look.

The food is great, the service is great, the quality is there.
I found the matcha strawberry bingsu good but not the lemon pomegranate one.
Portions are small considering the price and we weren’t really full.
It was a good dinner for sure, just not enough for the price point.

A delicious and elevated Korean BBQ experience! The cuts of meat are premium and delicious, but don’t skimp out on the sides! Highly recommend the seafood pancake and the perilla noodles ;)

Imagine a fine-dining version of KBBQ, with a designated “grillier” servicing the table the whole time. We ordered the Hansang set menu which got us a 6-course meal from appetizer to dessert, including banchans (side dishes) and premium cuts of beef and pork (which i figured drove the $135pp price point). The space was filled out but not overwhelmingly so. Their whole staff was professional, knowledgeable and communicated very well.

We got the $134pp set which is a COMPLETE rip off. We thought it would be 1 set pp but no it's one set per however many ppl you have. The portion on top of that was incredibly tiny and was that to feed a toddler.

The wagyu was really really good though, otherwise all in all, it's alright. Highly unlikely to visit again.

Or son was away for the weekend so my wife and I had a date night and we picked this Korean BBQ restaurant - it was more than perfect - delicious, fresh and dare I say entertaining.
We chose the hansang ‘prix fixe’ option so we could try most of the food options. The next time we go we will probably focus on one or two cuts of meet instead.
The A5 Wagyu beef was certainly the hit. The Bingsoo dessert was a surprising hit too. If I could give them a 6 out of 5 I would. Highly recommended.
Usually we go to a restaurant only once because there are always so many new restaurants but we will come here again for sure

We celebrated a birthday at Takja, and the entire staff was so welcoming, and kind throughout the evening.

We really appreciated the attention to detail and how subtle and classy the experience was. The rib eye and galbi were delicious and paired beautifully with the banchan (including cabbage salad, jalapeño, homemade ssamjang, wasabi, banchan, white kimchi and more). We also enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, mushrooms and seasonal vegetables (broccolini/cauliflower hybrid, zucchini) and our drinks. I highly recommend:

the Barley Mc-Col (it tastes like autumn)
the pomegranate bingsoo (especially if you like earl grey)

This was definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Toronto, and a great way to eat beef. One underrated aspect of KBBQ is being able to eat your food at the intended temperature (hot off the grill).

Looking forward to my next visit.

Truly enjoyed Takja’s Hansang, a table full of food($135 per person)

Started with cold seafood salad aka “Naeng Chae” Could not believe how they could bring up so much flavour to go great with seafood from pine nuts dressing. Unlike ceviche there was not much acidity, but it was creamy & delicious. Shrimp, tuna and scallops in the salad were super fresh.

Seafood pancake was thick and crispy and Uni from Hokkaido went amazing with the savory pancake. They intentionally underseasoned pancake so it could go well with soy based dipping sauce.

For the main course,

there were 4 diferent meat served on the table; Short rib ( they add sauce just before they serve) & hangers steak from Guelph, ON, A5 Wagyu striploin from Miyazaki, Japan & Iberico Presa from Salamanca, Spain. My favorite was believe it or not pork from Spain.

All the mests were carefully grilled to medium rare & cut off to bite size by the serving staff and was served to my plate. Server stayed with us and made sure we were satisfied with each meat, felt like I had a personal chef at my table.

There were fermented squid condiments, ssamjang, flaky yummy salt handpicked from BC served as dipping sauces for the meat. Alrhough each sauce was very tasty, other than salt ( amazing salt!) I did not feel like I needed any additional dipping sauce for my meat. Meat itself was excellent! All the side dishes such as spucy jalapeno, pickles mustard, white kimchi, radish salad were all prepared in authentic Korean style.

Using both dry and wet aging process for the meat seem to work to develop the flavor and improve the texture.

Caulilini & assorted veggies to grill and fresh veggie to wrap from Tamarack Farm were also super tasty.

Stone pot bibimbop was aleo mixed by the server at the table for us. Most of the veggies for bibimbop were special wild ones that you can getin Korea. How authentic!

To finish up matcha & strawberry binsu was served. Enjoyed very light icy slushes and they did not go heavy with condensed milk.

I had a glass of full bodied Bordeax red wine($19) to go with my meat. However I had a sip of my friend’s Superdry Asahi 0.0 ($8) and the best No Alcohol beer I have ever had! Wow.

Overall I enjoyed food quality, components, authenticity of Hansang. And was very content with the quality of their hospitality. Will return.

Takja BBQ completely redefines what Korean barbecue can be in Toronto. You still get all the familiar warmth and communal feeling of traditional KBBQ, but here it’s elevated to a level that, dare I say, feels worthy of Michelin recognition.

I went with the fixed menu, along with a shrimp cocktail to start. That shrimp cocktail? Absolutely to die for. Perfectly balanced, fresh, and decadent. The fixed menu was flawless from beginning to end the appetizers set the tone, the quality of the meats was genuinely next level, and every course felt intentional and refined.

One of the most memorable aspects was the service style. Instead of the traditional self-grill setup, the staff cook the meats for you, showcasing their technique and timing, so each bite arrives at its peak. Rather than a communal sauce bar, they present a beautifully curated tray of condiments and sauces directly at your table, each one enhancing the flavors without overwhelming them. Even the kimchi was unlike anything I’ve had before.. bright, balanced, and deeply flavorful.

And then there’s dessert. As someone who doesn’t usually gravitate toward sweets, I was stunned. It was exceptional, the perfect finale to an already stellar meal.

I’ve dined at every Michelin-starred restaurant in Toronto, and I can honestly say this was one of the most impressive culinary experiences I’ve had in years. Takja BBQ isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a statement on how Korean barbecue can be reimagined at the highest level. I truly hope the Michelin Guide takes notice, because this is a gem Toronto should be proud of.

Food was really bad, I am not sure what people like about this place. Another overrated , hyped, trendy Toronto restaurant.

I’ve always heard about the cute guys who help with the barbecue, so I finally visited a fancy Korean barbecue restaurant a few months ago. Upon entering, I noticed several guys in formal suits, and the atmosphere felt quite ceremonial.

Surprisingly, there was no greasy smell inside. Many recommended the Tasting Menu for $125, but it didn’t seem like an all-meat feast, so I skipped it.

I tried the Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye, which was super fatty with a strong flavor, and the Coppa, which had no bad smell. However, the desserts are pricey—the Bing-su was $26 and not worth it.

The side dishes included just okay white pickles and a few unique pickled vegetables. The dipping sauces were high-end, but I still think barbecue with garlic is the best.

Service was good; the staff was polite and respectful, stepping back after grilling. However, I always leave feeling like something's missing, maybe due to a limited menu.

Food was delicious, pork was better than the beef! Portion could be a bit larger and there were servers taking turns to grill meat, mix the rice and make sure you are happy and satisfied!
