Tartistry in the distillery district in downtown Toronto is an absolute gem & a must-visit for anyone who appreciates exquisite gluten-free pastries. From the moment you approach the counter, you’re greeted with a delightful aroma & a sense of comfort that feels like a hug from your favourite bakery.

Food was meh. But the service there is garbage. The lady who was supposed to serve us gave us so much attitude about questions or recommendations.

As tourists we’ve seen butter tarts everywhere we’ve been this week but had to keep walking as our two celiac children wouldn’t be able to have them. Imagine my delight when I stumbled across these tarts that were not just gluten free but EVERYTHING was gluten free, so they could literally have anything. This never happens! Having never tasted a butter tart we decided to order four plain ones despite the big range of very tempting flavours. Wow, just wow!!! These tarts are absolutely delicious! I need to know the secret! My 15 year old son told me I NEED to make them at home. I have no idea how but I’ll do my best! The pastry as well, how on earth have they made gluten free pastry taste that good??? The Distillery District was the perfect setting to enjoy them too, the some was shining, the singers were singing, the atmosphere was incredible :)

I was looking for a quick lunch in the Distillery and I was very happy to see delicious vegan options! I was helped by a purple haired person who was delightful and helped me get what I want! And the vegan blueberry cheesecake is so MOIST! Just like they said! Thank you so much, I am looking forward to coming back

Had gone for brunch at Cluny, was walking the area and stumbled upon this store. Tiny little cut store. Picked up a sampling of their sweet tarts. So far the raisin and coconut tarts are awesome. Lemon curd and Pecan are still waiting. They have savoury tarts/pies as well. Will definitely return to try more items. Definitely worth a visit to pick a treat or 2 up.Thanks!

Stopped by their little stand located within the Distillery District and was surprised by the number of flavors available. The gentleman occupying the stand was very kind. I ordered 4 tarts: blueberry, raspberry, lemon, and plain. My favorites were the lemon and the plain. The lemon provided an excellent tart contrast to the ooey, gooey, custardy goodness of the tart. The plain was your traditional butter tart that needs no improvement! Both the blueberry and the raspberry were good, but I felt like the flavors of the berries had a hard time coming through the sweetness of the custard. The crusts of the tarts were divine! Perfectly crumbly and flaky. Hopefully I have the chance to go back soon!

Tartistry has a booth at the Distillery District's Christmas Market with a wide variety of flavours of their incredible gluten free butter tarts. Even those who do not need to eat gluten free found them delicious...as good (or better) than non-gluten free butter tarts!

Very intimate place with sweet and salty tarts. Gluten free and branch available in an environment that remind of a Victorian place. You can buy antiques and on \\Saturdays you have two rounds of free jazz. Available for private parties. The owners are simply amazing

I went here yesterday for the first time on the recommendation of a friend and it didn't disappoint! A little crowded with the antiques they also sell and it looks like they have live music at some point (I went during the day), but when you get to the counter, there are a plethora of different tarts! They sell them individual, by the half dozen and the dozen - the more you buy the cheaper they are. Even with buying more, they are pretty pricey, but don't let that put you off - when I got them home they were absolutely delicious, some of the best I have ever had! All tarts are made gluten free, but you will not be able to tell the difference. I got the plain, pecan and chocolate and all were outstanding! I live at the other end of the city, but will be making a return trip out there very soon!!

Michelle Roberts is the owner of this pastry shop. She has the best butter tarts of all flavours. The crust is like a shortbread, too die for . Fillings not sickening sweet at all. Cream cheese filling , pecan, walnut, coconut , fruit . Michelle sells and serves savouries also. You can eat in or take out. Lunch special is asavoury salad and two butter tarts for $12.95. Really homey feeling. Live entertainment on sat 10-6. She sells jewellery, paintings etc. Drop in and tell her Marilyn from Barrie sent u . You won’t be disappointed.
