Taverna Mercatto

We had a great dining experience. Location is perfect and central downtown Toronto. Food was delicious and wait staff attentive. Would recommend the arancini appetizer and the carbonara pasta!

A lastminute reservation that we really enjoyed. We were seated very quickly and were offered our choice of tables. The service was friendly and quick. We had the calamari and octopus to start. Both were very flavorful. We followed with 3 carbonaras and a bolognese. The carbonara was amongst the best I've tasted. The pasta was cooked to perfection. It had that nice peppery tingle on the tongue. Rich cream from the guanciale gave this dish real depth. The wine list was just ok. We settled on a Marlborough Valley sauv blanc. It was one of the better ones on offer. I would have preferred an Italian but I couldn't find one that would match our tastes. We ended our wonderful visit with a limoncello then a stroll along the Harbour front.

Flavourful and fresh pizza with generous amount of mushrooms and arugula, recommended by our friendly and thoughtful server. Had to take out the creamy and authentic tiramisu for later!

Had our team dinner here last night. It was great to connect outside of work, but the overall experience could've been better. The food was okay, though the lasagna was quite salty. The biggest issue was the heat inside—unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn't working, which made it pretty uncomfortable.

We had dinner at your restaurant last night. The food and service were great. Our waiter was polite and checked in with us regularly , despite how busy he was and how warm the evening was. My concern is the placement of the tables. We were a party of two , sitting beside a party of four. The party wasn't exceptionally loud , but due to crowded placement of tables , we had no privacy , we heard every detail of their conversations ( which felt inappropriate) and it was difficult for us to even speak to each other. The waiter couldn't even get between the tables, taking my order standing behind my partner. One individual at the adjoining table used the F word repeatedly in speaking about his issues with his sister , his ex wife, his adult children , the dog he disliked and life in general. Unfortunately the overcrowding, had us leaving quickly.

Wasn’t bad. They accommodated our large group well, though some mistakes here and there. I liked the spicy chicken and aracini.
You should definitely add pina colada to your menu too.

Went to this restaurant before a Taylor Swift concert. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Good service and ambiance and walking distance to Scotiabank Centre as well as the Rogers Centre. We were a group of 20 so we ordered a bunch of dishes to share. Among the dishes we had was the Arancini, Calamari, pizza, some of the pasta and fish. Good enough that some of us will be going back in Dec before a Raptors game

Had an awesome time at Taverna Mercatto! Peter was so lovely, thoughtful and attentive throughout our meal. He gave us great pizza recommendations that we truly enjoyed. Peter helped make our evening a true joy!

We walked in (2 of us) and we were able to sit at the bar and order food without a reservation which was so nice. Love the cozy vibes with all the lights. Food and drinks were delicious after receiving lots of good suggestions from our service/bartender as we were ordering many things to share.

Fast and careful service.
Italian map. Super well seasoned dishes. Desserts to die for. We would have stayed longer in Toronto and would have gone back!
