Just found out this business isn't Indigenous owned!!!! Not ok

zing ping

My $50 bison steak was somehow juicy in the middle but still tough an a bit dry. Only seasoning i tasted was black pepper,
I really liked the wild rice though, it was far better then the steak to me.
I recommend sticking to their burgers

Eating here was an interesting experience! This was my first time trying Native American cuisine and I quite liked it.

[P.S. we waited for OVER 30 MINUTES for the food. Based on other reviews, long cook-times seem to be common so get ready to wait]

They gave us free salted popcorn to start!

I ordered the Salmon Burger ($12): (3.8/5)
Smaller than I expected but surprisingly really filling. The bun (used frybread bun) was VERY UNIQUE... heavy and dense, crispy on the outside, n crumbly but chewy on the inside (reminded me of biscuits!). The green-ish sauce was also really good! A bit hard to eat bcs it was a fat burger so I used fork+knife lol. Salmon was standard, coleslaw was great!

Strawberry Juice ($4): (3/5)
Used real, fresh strawberries, not too sweet n tasted good. HOWEVER I found it too diluted. It was a little too watery.

Friend ordered the Pickerel Dinner ($21): (idk/5)
I tried just a bit of this. The pan fried fish seemed more deep fried (coated w flour). A little bland n dry imo. THE WILD RICE WAS SO GOOD THO. It was sauteed with mushrooms n veg, LOVED the texture of the rice n the overall flavour!

Overall, it was super interesting and fun to try, but the taste wasn't "amazing". (might just not be used to this kind of food tbh). I'd come back to try their samplers; all their other dishes seem really unique too.

Had the Pickerel Dinner ($21), a little pricey for the portion, but worth the taste! Fish was a little thin, so it was the batter overpowering the flavour, but combined with the dipping sauce, it's phenomenal. The roasted bannock bread is really good, chewy and stuffed on the inside and crispy on the outside. The wild rice and veggie stir-fry is amazing! First time trying wild rice, and the combination of the crunchy fried wild rice, salty mixed veggies, and subtle pumpkin puree is absolutely delicious. (4.5 / 5)

Service was quite slow, had to wait ~30 mins.

Being the only indigenous restaurant that I could find in the GTA, it didn't disappoint. The bannock and bison were definite must-haves.

A very special shop. The burgers are all made with fried bread. The texture is a bit like Taiwanese donuts but firmer and not too sweet. The food is affordable. The freshly squeezed strawberry juice is really hand-made strawberry juice. It is very refreshing. Three sisters. The soup tastes sweet and the burgers are good value for money. This is a restaurant worth recommending!

The food was excellent - fresh ingredients, freshly made food. I had the bison and salmon sliders on a sampler plate, with freshly made bannock and homemade blueberry sauce. The only drawback is that there were several things not available on the menu when we went for an early Saturday evening dinner. The decor was lovely: centrepieces with rosemary and wild grass that gently swayed as people walked by, and birch branches for table legs. One felt closer to the land while enjoying the decor and munching on their homegrown popcorn!

When visiting Toronto this summer one of our top restaurant places to go was Tea N Bannock and we were not disappointed. We ordered a wide variety of dishes including 3 Sisters soup, fry bread, a salmon sandwich, a couple of Navajo tacos, some bear paws, and the wild blueberry crumble. All were excellent and we had no complaints from our teenager and pre-teen (who largely only eats chicken). All food came to us fresh and hot and the fry bread was a dream. We have had fry bread all over the U.S. and this was as good as any we've had. An extra thing to love about this restaurant is the small section that includes goods to buy. I bought 3 small bags of loose-leaf tea: Blue raspberry, wild strawberry, and Labrador. I've had all but the Labrador and they have been delicious. Don't miss this spot on your next visit to Toronto!

Bison stew and way to much frybread for one person.
Zero regrets.

It's a quaint place serving authentic food. The teas are a must try. I like the Labrador.

It does close at 8pm so plan for an early dinner.
