I always stop at the jerk spot any time I come to Toronto. I always look forward to it and usually highly recommend it. Today I stopped in before I left Toronto for the weekend and the older woman who was working was extremely rude, unhelpful, unprofessional and unwelcoming. As soon as I walked in she was rude (barely said hello). I proceeded to try and order and asked for a jerk chicken dark meat, like I always do. She seemed highly annoyed and responded “dark meat? What do you mean dark meat” and insinuated that it wasn’t an option. I then said, okay and looked back at the menu and went to order a platter with a jerk chicken leg. When I tried to order that I was met with the same annoyance as before, she said “a leg? What do you mean a leg”. After this I realized I was unwelcomed and decided to take my money elsewhere. People like this working for you will ruin your business and make people not want to come back. I know I won’t be!

I tried this spot for the first time. I heard this company has been around for over 25 years. There was a man outside selling incense and oils. I purchased a variety of incense. The lady inside was friendly and welcoming, which I told my daughter was great as people usually complain about the customer service at Jamaican restaurants. The lady asked if I wanted mild or spicy and we were surprised as we never got that question when buying jerk chicken before. It got spicy and it was hot like fire, The jerk sauce they put on the food was extremely hot. Once I got past the sauce it was not so hot after all.
The food was okay. The picture is after I started eating it, not how it originally came. I laid $20.00 for a small jerk chicken with rice and peas and a small container of coleslaw. (chicken breast).

Nothing special. Tried the jerk chicken plate but the amount of chicken was awful. Felt really cheap. Hope it gets better

This is a tidy spot with a menu loaded with options and a nice selection of Jamaican and grocery store beverages from Ting to Irish Moss to canned sodas.

The beef red pea soup I ordered was good. More of a sip consistency vs the thicker stew-ish base I’m used to at other restaurants.

They have a nice homemade, scotch bonnet hot sauce for $1 (2oz portion cup).

The jerk and festival poutine was quite disappointing. A good poutine is known for hot & fresh crispy fries, hot gravy and cheese. Disappointingly my order lacked all of the above and even though on their menu the festival is a spin on the classic poutine’s fries, it was hard and cold.

We also ordered a small oxtail meal which to our astonishment only had one piece of meat.

Aside from that, the taste of each dish was ok, but there was much left to be desired as satisfying meals and for overall experience.

no good place in the city to eat patties anymore — not only do they not make the patties in-house they taste terrible and very much store bought breadcrumb ahh patty.

Order a veggie roti and two spicy beef patties. I ask if I can get hot sauce for it, the lady said it was $1 for it. The beef patties I ordered was a regular beef patties and not spicy as requested. The veggie roti taste weird and had a unusual smell to
It as well.

Thought this place would have hit the spot, unfortunately it was a disappointment. Paid $15 for king fish which was three small pieces and tasted dry. And over sized festivals, after explaining that I really preferred more protein instead. Instead of explaining how the food was going to come, she was more interested in taking my money. I should have went to Tacos Locos across the street instead. Will not be returning.

Worst customer service and food! Went into the establishment the lady behind the counter wasn’t that friendly. I ended up buying their spicy chicken roti, which they changed me 1$+ to make it spicy and you could barely taste any “spice” , infact the roti was extremely salty! The chicken inside the roti was mushy and resembled the taste and consistency of tuna. If I could I’d rate my experience a 0/10. Highly do not recommend .
